I have a Go Pro setup with my road bike. I have the aluminum handlebar connector knock-off from ebay which is just like the K-edge version. It basically puts the camera out in front instead on top or below the handlebars. So far it is great with a road bike. Of course video would be stabilized on smooth roads. I use the…

Main goal for the year is a century(100 mile) ride every month and ride at least 5000 miles for the year. Good luck to everyone and their 2014 goals!!!!
-
Good job everyone! Keep on going! January is almost over!

I know the trainer could get realllllly boring without a goal. If you have a heart rate monitor, try doing some intervals. Go hard for 30 seconds off the saddle, then recover, then go for it again. If you are looking to just get mileage, watch a movie. Just make sure you stay in a certain HR zone.

I agree Kudos are like candy.... free candy for everyone!!!!

They sometimes have free month codes floating around the internet. Just google Strava free codes. Luckily, last year they had numerous codes out and you could stack them. So I got about a year free.

Just joined the group... now keep riding!

PB&J is my preride fuel. I usually eat 2 sandwiches 30-40 minutes before I go on a long ride. Then supplement with gelpacks, gatorade, and other food bars during the ride. For me, caffeine really helps on my long rides. So usually I have gel packs with caffeine or else have Amino Energy(by Optimum Nutrition) in my second…

Nice! The Davis ride is pretty much a good century for a first timer. First 30 miles is flat and a good warmup for the hills. Theres steep hills but not a crazy amount of elevation gain. I would said the ride is 70% flat and 30% hills. There was tons of food and fruits at the break areas. There was even an ice bath if you…

I did the Davis Liverstrong last year. It is pretty well organized with tons of support throughout the ride. I think I would do it again this year.

Good thing I saw this thread... Theres a lot of places in the area to ride. In Oakland, you have a lot of hills especially if you go eastward towards Orinda or Lafayette. The city streets are busy but there are still a lot of people riding. On your Golden Gate ride, start in SF and ride to Tiburon. That is a good scenic…

I had a good lady friend that plays tennis with me over the past couple months. She certainly dropped weight and it positively affected her game. He played D2 college tennis over 15 years ago and wanted to get back into it. She joined crossfit and played religiously to step up her game. I am not sure about how much weight…

I just use Strava. It's like a another big online community for cyclists. It makes me ride more because when I see other people have epic ride, want to do one too! haha... As for the subscription, I know you have to pay for premium but just google strava codes and you could stack them. You could probably get to a year free.

Sounds like you are gonna enjoy some serious time on the saddle. Have fun and stay hydrated!

I ride my single speed on the days where I just want to spin rather than using my geared road bike. I do enjoy it because of its simplicity and I know what speed I am going when I keep a certain cadence. But I go back to the geared bike for long distance or when I know I am doing some climbing.
