  • Fruit's often a good option. I don't know whether you're dairy free, but I like to make a big pot of mixed mash potatoes (sweet potato and white potato) and then freeze them in a big silicone ice tray (IIRC they're 1/2 cup each "cube"). Take out a cube anytime I need to add some carb to my meal. I'm a fan of the Perfect…
  • Oh yeah. And I think it's the cheapest Kerrygold I've been able to find.
  • There's industrial seed oil/vegetable oil in a lot of Trader Joe's merchandise, which is at the top of my personal "avoid" list. There's a few fish we'll buy there. Grass fed beef, as mentioned, though I prefer the stuff I get at the farmer's market. Frozen organic vegetables and berries. Coconut oil. Guacamole. Produce.…
  • Oh, BTW looks like a 5K run using Digifit, which is then shared with Runkeeper, counts as a 5K Runkeeper run for the purposes of their current cross promotion with LG. I got an email after a Digifit run saying I'd completed the "challenge." http://www.runkeeper.com/challenge/lg The fine print says manually logged…
  • I don't think I ever looked at my Runkeeper feed until today. No, there's no data appearing there except for Digifit-originated workouts. I mainly (only?) use Runkeeper as a gateway to apps (Achievemint and Fitocracy, mainly) which I would otherwise prefer Digifit connect to directly. Glad it's sorted out on your end.
  • Ben Greenfield (which you mentioned) and The Health Bridge are my favorites.
  • Looks like it's offered again today as an encore.
  • 55-65% Fat 15-25% Carbohydrates 10-15% Protein
  • I don't use it every day, but my brand is Whey Natural. http://www.wheynaturalusa.com/index.html Grassfed, cold processed, and even their flavored stuff (Vanilla, etc) only has a few ingredients. But IMO their flavored stuff is too sweet, so I stick with plain, which only has one ingredient IIRC. A bit expensive compared…
  • The last time I was in Whole Foods, they had a line of oil-less dressings which at first seemed to be going further than necessary out of the way to avoid canola oil, etc. But I picked up their fig balsamic which only had ingredients I was okay with. Add that and olive oil to my salads at home. I don't remember what the…
  • I don't know anything about Tazo. The rule of thumb in my house is the more elaborate/interesting the tea packaging, the worse it tastes (it's not my rule; I don't have a very sensate palate and can't usually tell the difference). But FWIW the thing about green tea is you can't let it steep too long of else it turns…
  • Celestial Seasons (or is it Seasonings?) has an herbal tea called Roastaroma specifically blended to taste a bit like coffee. I don't do BP coffee per se (though I have tried it and liked it), but occasionally I'll do MCT and Kerrygold and a bag each of Roastaroma and either green tea (sometimes caf, sometimes decaf) or…
  • And in addition to margin of error, there also could be differences in water retention, timing and type of meais prior to the measurement, etc. Unfortunately, even some of the most accurate/expensive ways to measure (BodPod, etc) have higher than helpful margins of error.
  • My default is to mash white potatoes and sweet potatoes together with butter and a bit of milk, make a big pot and freeze in small portions.
  • Here's the blog post: http://perfecthealthdiet.com/2012/11/chocolate-what-is-the-optimal-dose/ Looks like more/better studies needed to find optimal dose (that's clear), but 30g per day in the population level study appeared to give benefits (you might need to look at the study referenced to determine whether that was 30g…
  • The coffee is bulletproof. Didn't say anything about the drinker.
  • PHD views white rice and potatoes as safe starches. And IIRC our blood sugars are naturally higher later in the day, so insulin spikes are less drastic. I've had some luck with weight loss during an 18-month low carbohydrate diet (before I found out about PHD), but because I was over-focused on carbs vs protein and not…
  • I know this is an old thread, but i'm new here (hi) and Ben Greenfield (athlete, fitness and health guru, and practitioner of the Perfect Health Diet) was asked about liver capsules on a recent episode of his podcast, and he was of the mind that they weren't of much use. YMMV. (Speaking of Greenfield, though, he also…
  • Hey, I'm new here (the PHD board) and here (myfitnesspal in general), too. Good luck with your goals!
