With the lactose intolerant thing, my vote is egg whites. If you can find one that tastes good to you, a vegan protein powder (not just vegetarian as they can put whey in it) might work as well.

To add some difference to this thread - as a lactose intolerant person I love my Light Smart Balance. Tastes good, spreads well, and cooks/bakes well (in recipes where it doesn't matter whether one uses butter or a substitute).

Also, the chemical that causes thyroid issues with goitrous veggies starts to break down at 110 degrees Celsius (10 degrees above boiling)/230 Fahrenheit (18 degrees above boiling) - so steaming cauliflower and broccoli will basically get rid of it anyway.

I've found that on synthroid my metabolism stays static - I don't gain weight like I did before I was diagnosed, but I can't lose it either. I log my daily tea as water intake - I only put a little stevia in it (half a packet for a big mug), so that's all it is, really.

Egg white omelettes with basically whatever you like having in omelettes - I usually put in at least cheese and a veggie. If you have enough calories left over, toast is good with this.

Leftover homemade macaroni and cheese (with the veggie pasta and mixed veggies and cheez it topping) and a serving of rainier cherries (I am so happy they're in season).
