Is butter better for you than margarine?
I have heard a lot of bad things about margarine and trans fats etc.
Is full fat butter worth the 'fat content' ?
Opinions?

what ever you prefer taste wise. I like becel cause it spreads better on bread.0

Fat is good for you and a necessity.
I definitely prefer butter over margarine.
I read somewhere that margarine is only one ingredient away from being plastic. It is also one of the only foods that you can set outside on a hot summer day and not even a fly will go near it.
That being said, I just like butter better so I go with it.0 -
Butter is so much better. I make my own sometimes.
I've read that margarine is one molecule away from being plastic. ...0 -
Stupid question but Is Clover lighter margarine?0

It's impossible to answer this question without knowing which margarine you are talking about.0

And I've read that humans have only a 3% genetic difference from a banana...what's your point?

Yea. Doing some looking, it does seem to be false. Like I said, I just like butter better anyway.

3% is a hell of a difference when you look at the genetic code.

Butter... but only because of its buttery goodness.0

Butter. More delicious. More natural. I'm also one of those people that lives on saturated fats and avoids extra omega 6 oils so margarine doesn't really fit with my lifestyle.0

I can't remember where I read it, it was years ago. It's' just stuck in my mind.
Butter is simple and natural, margarine is not.0 -
Butter, organic when possible, but in reasonable quantities. Will have nothing if margarine is the only option (and yes, I ask at restaurants what they use).0

I guess butter. I have all but weaned myself from both. Most of what I'd use it for...I didn't really need it.
But if I had to pick one, all things considered, I'd take a low sodium / "lite" butter.0 -
Butter. Fake food is a tool of Satan.0

To add some difference to this thread - as a lactose intolerant person I love my Light Smart Balance. Tastes good, spreads well, and cooks/bakes well (in recipes where it doesn't matter whether one uses butter or a substitute).0
