  • I sadly don't have the ability to have a smart phone at the moment, however I use my my timer function on my phone. I just set it for the number of mins the workout is suppose to be and I glance at it to help track... not the best way to do it but it works if you don't have other tech available.
  • Fresh out of college here... well ok a couple of years :p Anyhoo I lost around 20 or so lbs while still in college so I'd be glad to help you and give you any advice you might need to help you on your journey :)
  • I'm thinking about doing the Tough mudder next year in July. I'll be my first if I do. I'm from KY though :/
  • Soo, does this mean I can't be a cat :-( You've broken my dreams man... shattered them! ;)
  • poor food choices do effect my mood but only because I have a lot of sensitivities and food can make my tummy mad which effects my mood. That said, I used to get really upset when I'd go over until I looked at my net calorie intake over time. I realized it was all balancing out in the end and I was still at a deficit so…
  • Getting out and going for either a jog or walk when I'm feeling really drained really helps. Especially if I can get my blood pumping I'll get a little bit of a buzz that helps me fight off the depression. Still fighting getting up in the mornings though...
  • I have celiac and lactose sensitivities. There are very few foods that don't make me bloated however I have found that fresh veggies and certified gluten free foods (they have to be certified!) and some lactose free things don't bother me as much. I got told it was all in my head too until they did a colonoscopy and found…
  • Thanks, I'm trying to drink lots a water. A challenge for me since I never liked water before growing up. I now like water but I still forget occasionally. But I think I may try to find some healthy alternatives for the things I so very much crave.
  • I don't particularly care about Dr. Oz himself but I do wonder if the technique actually works?
  • I can help you some, I'm still experimenting with new ideas but I've been diagnosed for 10 years... wow has it really been that long??? So I guess I have some idea of what I'm doing LOL
  • If you had a rash you probably have Celiac as that is one of the many symptoms that can pop up! I like the idea of a nice big salad for lunch :) I also have mild lactose intolerance so I have to be careful what I get as far as dairy goes... Also I LOVE thai rice noodles! My favorite dishes are usually mexican or thai :D
  • I'm so used to eating rice all the time... :/ I've been celiac for 10 years so you would think I'd have it down but I don't... for one thing I'm just getting out truly on my own and now I'm trying to live on a budget that doesn't have much wiggle room... oh and the whole eating healthier and losing weight too LOL I just…
  • Ooo those look yummy :) I LOVE quinoa it's a great grain to have on hand and high in protein too! But I never thought about using race cakes as bread! I bet those are cheaper and lower cal than my frozen GF bread... hmmm :)
  • I think what I will do is finish up the c25k and then start doing the suggested workout from the tough mudder program. They actually have a training program called the tough mudder boot camp so I'll probably see how I do in the c25k fitness wise and then slowly start building with the elements of their boot camp :) I'm…
  • I have Celiac too! I found out about 9 years ago, at first I was really upset... you tell a teenager that they can't have taco bell or pizza anymore! But now I have found so many safe alternatives and I've been gf for so long I don't even miss most stuff... though a good gluten free doughnut is still hard to find!
  • I HAVE to eat gluten free because of Celiac disease... not an easy thing to do when you are really poor and love food!
  • When I was little I hated water... I'm really picky with my water even now and have trouble with being bloated if I drink water from a new place for a couple of days. However now I love water and have even started drinking it while out. It's all I drink at home. I had to train myself to drink it. I never had other drinks…
  • A 5K that's fantastic! I hope to be able to run a 5K in the future but I'm not there yet! As for those grumpy bums, I believe it's just a case of ignorance blended with a subtle hint of jealousy. You don't have anything to prove to them... AT ALL! If you feel great and are seeing results that make you healthier and happier…
  • I'd have to say that several hours of hardcore singing drills and difficult songs that make you sweat and pant for breath have to count for something here people... No maybe singing in your car doesn't count for much but dancing, clapping, and hand movements while singing have to count for something as well as the work…
  • :( It IS hard to resist food when you just want to eat it all because it tastes soooo good. It's like being an alcoholic and having to live in a bar when you just want to stop drinking. That said here is what I have done to help me resist binge eating and overloading on trigger foods. A) Try not to obsess over food too…
  • Man all you gotta do is spread it thinly on the toast like they do in the commercial. There's no way THAT'S two whole TBS, and that will cut down on the sugar significantly! LOL everything in moderation, who would have thought! But yea it's not a "health food" by any means but a nice way to add a little sweet flavor to…
  • Breastfeeding alone burns a lot of calories. For lactating mothers you actually need more calories to support all those lost during milk production and feeding. Doctors don't recommend going on a "diet" during this time for this reason. However eating a diet rich in healthy vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean meats…
  • Hmm... I know I really struggled with this when I started out. Are you eating too many carbs and/or sugars? I know for me if I eat too much sugar or too many simple carbs I will be hungry no matter how much I eat.
  • Yes actually, I avoid most grains and processed foods naturally because I have Celiac disease and I can't have wheat, rye, barley, or contaminated oats. I do try to have some slow burn carbs in my system since I am picking up running and my muscles need that energy store. I also limit myself in the fruit department only…
