nutella video makes news

I, for one, am shocked -- SHOCKED! -- to discover there is sugar in Nutella!
If I can't trust somebody's ADVERTISEMENTS to tell me what's healthy, then what CAN I believe?
Also, won't somebody think of the CHILDREN?!?0 -
never tried nutella, no desire to.0

21g Sugar = 1 serving/2 tspn Nutella - Hazelnut Spread with Skim Milk & Cocoa
23g Sugar = 1 serving/8 fl oz - Simply Orange Juice - Pulp Free Orange Juice
23g Sugar = 6 Oreos
"...it helps to make a nutritious breakfast non-nutritious,”
So this "doctor" has come to the conclusion that any sugar in your breakfast makes all the nutrition that was in your breakfast just magically disappear.
And by strict adherence to his logic having 1 serving of orange juice with your breakfast is worse than having teh evol nutellah with it.
"His findings are based on the ad suggesting there are 94 hazelnuts in a jar and the nutrition facts panel on the product. "
My god... this man RTFL... genius... pure genius!
The story would have been a better read, and more accurate in accordance with the logic it presents, if they went with the headline... "Doctor Reveals Shocking Discovery: Nutella More Nutritious Than Orange Juice"
ETA: I love nutella! Sugar is not evil.0 -
Am I the only person in the world that DOESN'T like Oreos??0

Nah. I can totally do without.0 -
I absolutely love Nutella but why in the world anyone would even remotely think that it is healthy is beyond me. [shakes head]. :noway:0

Recipe, please?
BTW, I can read labels perfectly well and decide for myself what fits my macros for the day. I would expect any responsible parents to do the same for their children.
Nuts are a healthy fat source, and the toast isn't evil - carbs and all that. I expect that a piece of toast with a spoonful of Nutella on top is no worse than a bowl of most breakfast cereals.0 -
I've never had Nutella. Mostly because it looks absolutely disgusting, but even more so because I'm scared it'll taste really amazing and I wont be able to stop. Not sure what I would put it on though... I don't eat ice cream or cakes, and it seems like it would be wrong on my delicious wheat bread. Damnit, now I'm overanalyzing!! I wont give in..0
-
I'm sorry, no.
This isn't news.
It's freaking CHOCOLATE SPREAD.
No one needs to point out that it's calorie dense and full of sugar.0 -
Thanks for this post... It reminded me to put nutella on the grocery list!
Nutella stuffed french toast... that is all...0 -

Nutella is the most disgusting food I have ever tasted. It tastes like plastic garbage. Ugh! I just don't get the thing with Nutella. Seriously. Makes me want to puke. The only thing worse tasting than Nutella is liver.
Crazy talk!0 -
The only thing I agree about is Nutella advertising as a healthy breakfast. That actually upset me because its a load of donkeydoodoo.
That said, Nutella is delish and there's nothing wrong with it in moderation.0 -
If I have enough calories at the end of the day and really want something sweet, I spread about a tsp full on a graham cracker. It's freakin' amazing! Love that stuff. I can't keep it in the house very often though, as i could go at the jar with a spoon!0

Nutella cheesecake...

Nutella cheesecake...
Huh, well that didn't work either. I tried to fix it.
There... Now I got it, my iPad tries to capitalize everything, looks delish!0 -
Anyone who thought that Nutella was considered a health food and has now had their eyes 'opened'... :noway: It's a sweet treat and can easily be incorporated into a healthy diet, even one at a calorie deficit.0
-
Man all you gotta do is spread it thinly on the toast like they do in the commercial. There's no way THAT'S two whole TBS, and that will cut down on the sugar significantly! LOL everything in moderation, who would have thought! But yea it's not a "health food" by any means but a nice way to add a little sweet flavor to your breakfast if it is safe to do so (i.e. no problems with sugar). I can eat anything I want as long as it stays in my needs... I just find (not surprisingly) that whole foods like veggies, lean meat, and whole grains fill me up for a lot less calories, but there is nothing wrong with adding a little fun now and again >^..^< Chocolate cake and pizza anyone? Nutella is dessert in our house, if we eat it at all. Definitely not breakfast and especially not breakfast on toast (at least not for my kids; adults can make their own informed choices!). But it's GOOOOOOD for sure.
It's crazy the sort of breakfast foods that are marketed as healthy.0 -
Nutella is pretty much candy. Which is awesome because I like having candy on bread as breakfast!0
-
And that is why I make my own Nutella.

My mom died at 49. She never even heard of nutella. SO your point (whatever it may be) is invalid.
