  • Yep. I got those exact same comments (also, "strong for a girl"). I didn't really realize what they were talking about when they said "broad-shouldered" until I lost weight and started trying to buy nice women's clothes (instead of wearing unisex tshirts all the time). Then I was like, "Oh. That's what they mean." It's…
  • When I stepped on the scale and I was at 245 lbs. I just couldn't let myself hit 250 lbs. I started paying attention to my calories and took up running and got down to 173. That was about 10 years ago and I've gained a little bit back (14 lbs up from my lowest after my initial weight loss, but I'm getting back to it now).
  • I agree. c25k is what really got me started 10 years ago and helped me lose 61 lbs. I'm up 16 since then, but I still run regularly and I ALWAYS recommend it to newbies who wanna start. As for fads I've tried...grapefruit diet, cabbage soup diet and slimfast are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Logging was…
  • Ernestine Shepherd. Definitely Fitspiration. She didn't even get started until she was in her 50s. I wanna still be that active and healthy when I get older. https://www.baltimoresun.com/features/bs-fe-baltimore-bodybuilder-beyonce-video-20200805-5s3fvsvr6rcelbojum3yzydzri-story.html
  • I watch My 600 lb Life more as a cautionary tale. As much as I love food, and hate working out, I could absolutely see myself getting there. Watching it and seeing how difficult their lives are reminds me why I need to keep trying.
  • I am currently reading The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski.
  • That's pretty! I need to kit more. Since I became a full time college student my knitting (and weight) have suffered.
  • All of it. Grilling food makes it better. I particularly love grilled veggies. Whenever we go to Logan's Roadhouse, I order several grilled vegetable skewers as my main dish with a side of mac and cheese or a potato. My husband gives me crap about going to a steakhouse for vegetables but whatever. They're awesome.
  • Naptural1, I love my fitbit! I try to remember to set an alarm for every 30 minutes when I'm kitting/crocheting/using the computer, then I get up and walk around few a while. I'm really quite sedentary. I know it's not good but I like sitting. lol
  • Earthnut, cashmere cowls sound lovely. We moved about a year ago and where I was living before, I was in a really active knitting group. Sometimes there'd be 25-30 people. I've yet to find one that great in the new city. :(
  • I considered getting one of those recumbent bikes just so I could get some exercise in while knitting/crocheting. I still want to.
  • Yes, it is and yes, they do. http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/01/us/san-diego-marathon-oldest-woman-finishes
  • Welcome to the group, Bracken8974! A friend of mine was just diagnosed with PCOS. She's taking it very hard as her doctor told her she only has about a year of fertility left and if her and her husband want kids, they need to hurry up and try. She wants to try, he's not ready. I feel so bad for her.
  • Welcome, Mikeysmama! I used knittinghelp.com to learn how to knit. For crochet, I bought a DVD called I Can't Believe I'm Crocheting, although to be honest, I've used YouTube more than the DVD.
  • Awwww! I love this! Congratulations to both of you. :) My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary on Sunday and i can't wait to wear the new dress I bought for it.
  • omg, I'd set it on fire! My seams always look like poo anyways. I bought a craftsy class on seaming. I should probably watch it. Lol
  • Sometimes I do that because I like to track so I know what I did on what day, but I didn't feel like messing with my HRM and I don't trust MFPs estimations. Therefore, I just put 1 so it lets me log it anyway.
  • I hate having my picture taken so there's not a whole lot of photos of me floating around, Today I ran across the one on the left. That's one of the very few photos of me at my heaviest of 245 lbs. I decided to snap a quick comparison photo. I get a little frustrated because I've been at this for 3 years now and I'm still…
  • Welcome to all the new people! Sorry I haven't said it sooner. Since my laptop died, I haven't been spending much time on the boards. I opted not to get a new one because I seem to get so much more done without it.
  • That's so cool! I'd love to do one of these but the thought of seaming it all together sends me running for the hills.
  • I was at my highest weight of 245 lbs when I got the Mirena. I'm currently down to 175 and am almost to my 9th year of having a Mirena in.
  • I don't currently have anything on the needles, but in the last 2 weeks I've finished 2 Brambles berets (from knitty.com), a set of washcloths, a shawl and a neckwarmer.
  • Welcome, Kris!
  • I have an under armour one that zips and hooks in the front. it's awesome.
  • Ugh. Double knit scarves take a million years. I don't know if I'm doing any xmas knitting this year. I usually only do it for my mom and my husbands grandma, but I already bought my mom an xmas gift. I'll probably still make a little something for grandma, like a hat or slippers (mom usually gets something lacey and…
  • I'm pretty 'meh' about pie. Except for chocolate chip pecan pie. I could eat a whole one by myself, so it's a good thing I only make it once a year.
  • I really looked forward to losing weight so I wouldn't sweat as much. I always assumed me being so sweaty was because I was fat and out of shape. I lost 60 lbs, got in better shape than I had been in my entire life and I STILL sweat ridiculous amounts. Then one day my brother (tall, skinny runner) was complaining about how…
  • Welcome all newbies! Sorry I haven't been around much lately. Summer has been super stressful and thrown me off a bit. Time to get back at it. :)
  • That. I have 2 different berries with breakfast every morning.
  • I was very good at couponing. Most coupons are for processed food. So yes, I could feed my family processed food for very cheap. When I started trying to be healthier, I started buying a lot less processed food and a lot more fresh. My grocery bill DID go up. I spend $15-$30 a week on berries alone. I used to go to the…
