Absolutely it should come from me. Absolutely it is a priority. I sometimes feel like a junkie, though...I swear I'm going to do better, truly want to do better, believe I'm going to do better, but manage to mess up by the end of the day. I have not tried this, and am hoping the haranguing will help me get into the habit,…

I will try the quest bars. Hershey's used to put out these chocolate sticks that did the trick. I guess I should keep it in my purse for 'emergencies'. My problem is also stopping at just one.

Thanks for the replies. I several problems that I can identify - 1) I have used food as a source of comfort after a really bad day for a really long time. Trying to change that habit is very difficult, as I can't seem to find a suitable substitute that gives the same comfort, especially when I am 'in' the situation. I can…

My current position is Department Head Ancillary Services on a tiny island that has only 2 nurses - and my other half is on vacation right now so it's just me for a population of about 3000. I rarely get to do bedside nursing any more (boo!). So, from an ER rotating between days and nights every month, I am now an admin…

If you look in the candy aisle, you can usually find chocolate sticks (hershey's), that are about 55-60 cals each. It's small but enough to kill a craving. Also to consider in the diabetic foods area is 50/50 chocolate, which is pretty rich and tasty. A whole bar can last several days because it is so rich, you only need a…

Body For Life's suggestion of mixing cottage cheese and yogurt. I used blueberry...ended up with the taste and consistency blueberry-flavored vomit. I *used* to like cottage cheese, not so much any more... :P

Thanks :) It's nice to know I'm not the only one. I will be getting knee and wrist braces on my way home from work today, just so I can't use the excuse "it hurts" anymore. I am attacking by eliminating reasons not to do things. Get the double bonus of no excuses as well as accomplishing something! lol

My vice is Diet Mountain Dew. Not necessarily the coke itself, but the high, glorious caffeine content. I do not like coffee at all unless I prepare it the way I like (read: extremely sissified), and tea is too weak. How to get my caffeine, then? Lol

Bump. Celery and almond butter jerky - the spicier the better :)

Wean off if you can. Artificial sweeteners still trigger an insulin response. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2782974/ It also sets you up for not drinking enough water. Our bodies aren't evolutionarily ready for cokes, diet or not. Fruit is sweet, and has more benefits by far. Try squeezing an orange slice in…

I kept bumping into things...spaces I had always been able to pass through without any problems were now problems...knocking things off desks and the like. What the heck...? Then I saw pictures.... Oy.

It does, that's why I forgo it all together, hence why I stick with Paleo. I am much more satiated with protein, and for longer. It isn't about the calories, so much as it is about the type of nutrients you're taking in. 'The Paleo Solution' by Robb Wolf is a real eye opener. :)
