Have a look at this blog as well. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/BerryH/view/20-things-i-wish-i-d-known-about-running-when-i-started-103936

The biggest tip I got, and you already have above, is to run slower. Even if that means your run pace is slower than your walk - you just want to train your body to get used to working with that running action. Don't forget to breathe and keep your head up - look where you're going, not at the ground.

I'm starting Insanity today. I haven't decided how I feel about that yet! Happy? Scared? Apprehensive? Excited? (why do I feel like I'm naming characters in a Disney movie?)

I had a 2-week all inclusive Dom Rep break in January. Ate and drank what I wanted with pretty much no restrictions, but I continued my C25K, played beach volleyball every day and swam, snorkelled and kayaked - I had the kind of active break that would have been impossible 12 months earlier. My weight was exactly the same…

You can still have chocolate and takeaways. You just have to factor them in, eat smarter and get enough exercise.

Welcome to the group! I'm addicted to MFP - add me if you like!

Wow! You complain about ads. Someone explains that if you use a different browser you don't have to see the ads and your response involves insulting the other person? Next time try "that sounds great. Can you explain a bit better though, as I'm not that great with computers?"

The dangers of DHMO (dihydrogen monoxide) cannot be overstated. It should be banned!

I'm sorry, but we already decided on another thread that duckface is NOT cool!

Thanks for that. Have just bought some tall jeans!

www.longtallsally.com (in store or online) Online only: www.next.co.uk www.tallgirls.co.uk (specialist shop like LTS but younger) www.topshop.co.uk www.dorothyperkins.co.uk Next do a tall trouser which is a 35" inside leg. Their tall range is pretty limited but you can order online and pick up in the shop which means you…

I realised that it's not rational to start thinking about ordering clothes from shops in another country because I couldn't find any clothes to fit me in my own! Long legs and a huge *kitten* make shopping a bit tricky, but the solution is to make the *kitten* smaller, not spend £££'s on enormous clothes I'd have to have…

There was an episode of "Supersize vs Superskinny" where a massage was claimed to reduce waist size by about 2". The presenter had the massage and had to stop part way through to do, and I'm pretty much quoting here, "the biggest poo ever". She had lost about 2" when the massage was finished. Can't imagine it's a permanent…

I've got a "large frame". No I don't...I was just FAT!
-
I believe the "shake weight" is meant to do that... http://vimeo.com/17061982 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWTCs2HYHWw Not that I'd ever buy one though!

I think it's ok to be selfish while you are trying to lose weight. Once you get closer to your goal weight and transition to maintenance you'll have more calories to play with, but it's not wrong to tell your family & friends that you don't want to eat somewhere where you can't make choices that fit with your nutritional…

"can I bum a *kitten*?" Brits hear "can I have one of your cigarettes?"...

I'd imagine those images are copyright. It would look great with the olympic rings in the background though (also in gold)

That doesn't sound like a lot of food for someone training for a marathon! Wait a couple of minutes and someone will come along and explain why you need to eat more.
-
The food DB is pretty good, but there are some entries that are wrong. Check each food the first time you enter it to your diary and then select it from the existing entries from then on so you always use the correct numbers. For me the calorie burns from exercise were accurate to start with (compared to my HRM) but became…

I was walking around a theme park with my sister and her kids. I was a couple of yards in front when she said somethiing like "oh, for goodness sake!!", so I turned around to see what the problem was. She said "I was looking for you but I couldn't see you. I'm not used to seeing you that size!"
-
You have a "My Home" page which you should be able to see when you log in. There's a "calories remaining" number at the top which is coloured green. You should plan to eat enough to get that number as close to zero as possible without letting it go RED. That's all there is to it! Just enter your food and exercise and let…

That will make Jillian happy. In L2 she does actually say "I want you to feel like you're going to die!!!". Sounds like you'll fit right in!

I'm 44, decided to lose weight when 42. My ticker disagrees with you too!

What's brown and sticky? A stick.

Cycled up a really steep hill, passing a teenager who had dismounted at the halfway stage and was pushing his bike the rest of the way.
