I once lost 95# eating between 2000-2200 cals per day. I gained it back because of a roaring bout with depression. But it can definitely happen. I know its hard to wrap your mind around. I'm eating around 2200 although not closely watching quality of food or macros and slowly losing right now. I expect my loss to pick up…

I think the endorphins hit everyone differently. My partner is a runner and she gets the endorphins from that big time. Running just sounds like a pain in my backside but I can go to the weight room and come out on top of the world.

I just got an Enell and I love it. We do refer to it either as my valkyrie bra or my Wonder Woman bra because I have a weird line that shows through my T shirt. I only wear it to work out. I'm pretty cheap about buying clothes but I bit the bullet on the Enell because someone recommended looking on Ebay. Everything I found…

I work out at home too. I'm in the early part of Stage 1 also. My big problem so far is the cats watch me with that disapproving cat look their all so good at. :)

Thanks, Beeps. I watched some videos yesterday and I was doing them slightly wrong too. I was mentally putting more emphasis on not touching with my trailing leg than on my full ROM. Sometimes I forget that I have 120 pounds to lose and I won't always be able to do exercises like the pictures in the book. :)

Hi all! I played loosehead prop and second row when I was still at it. Our women's team in Springfield, MO folded after a car accident and rash of pregnancies (unrelated incidents). I played in Fayetteville, Arkansas for a bit also. I support our local men's club. They have a brother team in Wales, the Pill Harriers, so I…

Hi all! I fell off the wagon but I'm pleased to say I've gotten back on. I want to be more active in the forum so I'll have a bit more accountability when the new wears off in a couple of weeks. I've done the first two workouts of Stage 1 and I'm feeling on top of the world!

Wife, 2 dogs, 4 cats and the occasional sister wife. OK, so she's not really a sister wife but it sounds funnier than friend we're helping out until she can get on her feet.

You can buy bumper plates (rubber plates that are the same diameter as 45# iron) at Rogue Fitness starting as small as 10#. The Hi-Temp brand are pretty reasonable in price. This way you can get the bar to the proper distance off the ground for DL. Another idea if you are handy or have someone around who is, get plywood…

k0nfyo0zed: you aren't alone...I'm 5'10 and 315 right now. I've heard some folks use stairs in their home as a replacement for a step.

First off, standard disclaimer, not a medical professional just a prolific reader. Rhabdo is a serious issue and its important to be aware of. Most of the accounts I've read have been people banging out high numbers of negative chin ups or GHD situps. The only place negative chin ups are used in NROLFW is in stage 6 where…

Jen, I threw this idea out in a deadlift topic the other day. One thing you can do to get the bar the proper distance off the floor is to make "plates" out of a piece of plywood that are the right diameter. It adds negligible weight and gets the bar where you need it. Glad it isn't bedbugs!

I made a checklist for the challenge. I scheduled what activity to do for each day. I think that is going to help me stay focused on what I've challenged myself to do for the next 10 weeks. I think this 10 week challenge is a good concept. I need to lose over 100 lbs. Its daunting to think in those terms. I think I'll just…

At a glance the Amy's Organic meals in our freezer at home didn't appear to have MSG.

I do New Rules at home. For stage 1 I have dumb bells, a swiss ball, an aerobic step and a standard size barbell which I picked up used at a store called Play It Again Sports. You will not be able to do the program exactly without a squat rack. But there is plenty to be gained without it. There is a discussion group on…
-
I think its great that women across the world are going to start demanding squat racks at the gym! Form can be really tricky. I learnedly a lot from Mark Rippetoe's book Starting Strength.

I'm not sure I'm glad I went either. Boy was that a wake up call. Actually, I'm glad I went. Thanks for the link.

Dear 16 year old, You aren't as smart as you think you are. You are a lot cooler than you think you are. Don't go to Mizzou. Write down the family history that Granny is telling you. Ease up on your Mom. She's going to be your best friend one of these days.

My partner told me I needed to help out more around the house so I hired a housekeeper. I have not regretted it one bit. I work 8-14 hours a day and I never know when those long days are going to happen. My partner gets home from work at 3 in the afternoon and would end up doing all the chores before I got home. It was…

This sounds like a great idea. My goals is to lose 10# or BF%. I'm not sure what a reasonable goal is for BF% but I think I'll recognize it if I get there. 1. Be more consistent with NROL4W 2. Increase my cardio training 3. Cut my sodium intake (I eat out too much, need to start packing my lunch)

One thing I have heard of is to make "trainer plates" to get the bar the proper distance off the ground. Get a piece of plywood, cut a 17" circle then put a hole in the middle of the "plate" so it will go on the bar. This way the bar is the proper distance off the floor so you don't have to do any funky maneuvers to get it…

I've got the same problem. I ran across this thread while researching it. I haven't found any answers yet but it sucks. Even stuff like tomatoes and carrots which I've always eaten are starting to cause problems.

The song that always gets me over the hill is Killing in the Name Of by Rage Against the Machine. I will be adding to my list thanks to everyone's great taste in music!

I'm 5'10. I started at 326, down to 315 now. I've set my first goal weight at 220. My ultimate goal is probably around 190. I'm more focused on getting a healthy BF% than a particular number on the scales.
-
I'm 5'10" and down to 315 from a high of 326. My initial target weight is 220. I haven't weighed less than 200 in so long that its hard to think it could even be a possibility. Its good to see all you other tall ladies!

Academy Sports carries a brand called BCG. It is very inexpensive.

Hello all! I've struggled to find a strength training program that would work for me and so far I'm thrilled with NROL4W. I've got quite a lot of weight to lose but I'm much more comfortable lifting weights than doing traditional cardio. I'm walking some days and lifting on others. I love how supportive everyone seems to…

I'm so much not a morning person that I'm included in new employee orientation at work, as in, "That's Jody, don't talk to her before 9 if you can help it." That said, I've worked out in the morning before and I find that it helps me throughout the day. I have a physical job and I can't muster the strength to do anything…

I'm an Oilers fan. Yes, an Oilers fan born and raised in SW Missouri. Its a long story. My partner is a Caps fan so I'll probably cheer for them. I think I might hop on the Blues bandwagon.
