My faves are grilled veggies and Hebrew National hotdogs...

The idea of healthy food is subjective. Unless you have a medical reason to remove certain foods from your diet, there's really not food that's off limits here. If you want bacon, spend your allotted calories on bacon. Doesn't matter.

Use the search feature or read through the pinned threads in the boards. There's a lot of wonderful information about getting started.

Generally speaking, yes. You can either track your exercises and eat back your calories or you can use TDEE based on your activity levels.

Set up your MFP profile, choose your calorie goal, and start logging everything you eat and drink.

Congrats! Keep at it!

I lost all of my weight without exercise... all 75 pounds... My advice is to talk to your doctor. After you're cleared for exercise, log it and monitor your HR if you can also. That way you've got something solid to show your doctor as you work with him/her going forward.

I like my plain fruits and veggies, but sometimes I'll add something like ranch or chocolate. I also LOVE salsa so I'll add that to anything I can.

I don't know where it came from, so... I rank my nutritional info like this: 1. use the info on the packaging 2. use the info on the Web site if it's a restaurant 3. use a close option in the database (I look for similar items with the most confirmations from other users 4. forget the nutritional info and just add a…

I don't even try to log that stuff... I just write it in my "notes" section

Bike vs Elliptical = You get out of it what you put into it. You could also try swimming or rowing.

You don't need to exercise to lose weight, just eat at a deficit. Don't be discouraged! From a fitness perspective, just take your time and do what you can/want. There are SO MANY goals you can work toward with fitness... A certain time, weight, reps, distance, speed, etc.

Been a while, but I recall this being true for me too.

I agree with everyone else... If it completely covers the girls and feels comfortable, I put it to the jump test.

Why did your doctor tell you to stop losing weight?

I sleep eat when I have RLS :| ETA: Removed my comment about OP trying to sell something... Seems that's not the case.

Definitely discuss with her doctor.

Cheating can mean different things to different people. Also remember that what works for some people doesn't necessarily work for others. If you "cheat" and you're still reaching your weight loss/fitness goals, then rock on. All of that said, I don't have a designated cheat meal or day. There are times that I overeat or…

We all eat about the same stuff, but I eat less or make recipe adjustments for myself. If I'm cooking, I make things how I want them and haven't had complaints. Everyone else just might eat more or add extras like cheese :) If I measure out my own food and someone touches that, they'll lose a hand.

I started on a Monday about 2.5 years ago... Don't remember all the details, but I probably planned to start on that Monday. ETA: I just realized that was also the 1st of the month. Might have planned that too. Gah, I wish I could remember.

You can view a bar chart of the week on the site (see reports) and a pie chart on the mobile app (see nutrition). ETA: You can see a bar graph on the mobile app as well. Looks like you just can't see the pie chart on the site, but I could be wrong.

Asics are my running shoes of choice. Unless I'm doing something high impact like running or a crazy amount of walking, I don't have a shoe preference at all.

Wow. Strong first post. OP, it's food... treat it as such. There aren't any magical foods, drinks, or pills that burn more fat. If it were that easy, no one would be fat.

^ Yep! You can't spot reduce. Eat at a deficit, lose weight, and wear smaller pants.

Exactly this. You don't have to give anything up or change your meal times... Learn to apply portion control to the foods you already eat and stay within your calorie goals. As you figure out how much food that equates to and how you feel, make adjustments. Example, you might trade things like a can of soda for a couple of…
