Whatever foods you already eat, just make it fit into your daily calories.

Being a diabetic in remission, I am partial to the plate method. All foods in proportion.

To start off, eat normally and log everything for a week or two to see how many calories you are eating in a day. Just pay attention to the total calories. Then you will get ideas where you need to adjust.

It's always safe to go with whole foods. I highly recommend checking out the Abs Diet. It's not so much a diet as a guide. You'll learn about the 12 powerfoods to incorporate into your diet and why they are good for you.

Eat what you normally do, only at a caloric deficit.

    Good advice.

Exactly this. You don't have to give anything up or change your meal times... Learn to apply portion control to the foods you already eat and stay within your calorie goals.

As you figure out how much food that equates to and how you feel, make adjustments. Example, you might trade things like a can of soda for a couple of hard boiled eggs because you get more bang for your calories.

You just want ideas on healthier things?

    I personally love these things:
    • Greek yogurt
    • sweet potatoes
    • steak
    • spinach salads topped with cubed turkey
    • protein shakes
    • apples
    • bananas
    • roasted Brussels sprouts
    • quinoa
    • black beans (I like to make spicy black bean soup)
    • protein cheesecakes
    • sirloin pork roast with roasted carrots
    • chicken tacos
    • overnight oats
    • canned salmon with hotsauce on top of Mary's Gone Crackers
    • all kinds of fish baked in the oven
    • french fries baked
    • egg white omelets with spinach, tomatoes, cubed turkey
