  • I love trail running too! I just did my first marathon and it was a trail run...which honestly was so so so hard, but now that it's over and I have done it I am so proud of myself!!!!! I love that I live in Idaho and I can pretty much trail run every day :)

  • You are definitely young enough to get results! I was at a gym a couple of months ago and couldn't believe how many men and women in amazing shape in their 70's were lifting weights!!!   • Some people might be making a huge salad and they don't finish it. I know sometimes I can't believe the size of my awesome healthy meal, but I don't actually finish it because I get full.
  • Something that helps me is counting when I am breathing. 4 breaths in slowly, and 4 breaths out slowly. I don't know if this will help you but when I am having troubles that helps me a lot.

Even in the book they recommend only using real whole food, not shakes or bars unless absolutely necessary.   • definitely don't give up, maybe even do that week over again. There were times when I thought I was going to die and now I am on c10k week 11!! It's incredible what your body can do when you push it. but if you need to repeat a week a few times there is nothing wrong with that at all.

  • I personally lost 60 pounds using the south beach plan, and I love it. I have maintained for over 3 years now and I love all the principle that the books taught me. The first week I lost a lot too, but it slows down and becomes more reasonable after that first phase. encourage your friend! It's a very healthy way of living.
