  • Aside from being low calorie green tea has no magic weight lose properties. I watched a UK TV show about it and the quantity you need to have to help weight loss is huge and really not possible. I drink it every day as a water substitute as I like it
  • As others have said you can eat them back. I don't eat most of mine back when I am really trying to get the weight off. January is such a time!! I will eat some back if I am hungry but aim to have a healthy choice. It is important to get to your daily allowance( mine is 1400 cals) to keep your metabolism going and for…
  • Fabulous idea! I'M IN!!! On a 5 day streak, so this is great!!
  • I'd like to join please. I'VE just got a fitbit and am raring to go!!
  • Hi! Well done on your success! I have the odd blip from time to time and I find that re-focussing gets me back on track. I go back to logging and really watching what I eat and increasing my exercise really gets rid of the newly gained pounds and then I can carry on heading towards my goal weight. I was nearly at goal but…
  • I'm another who weighs in the morning first thing. I only log on a Saturday as it tends to be my best weight before the weekend! If I find my weight has fluctuated up by more than a couple of pounds during the week I take action and get a bigger calorie deficit in!
  • Thank-you for all your replies, I asked the question to clarify whether you can gain muscle while in deficit and thanks to some really informative replies I guess not. I'm now thinking I need to find out what my body fat percentage is and take it from there.
  • Thank you for your replies. I don't feel worried about the last slowness of weight loss as i feel so fit! Just puzzled about this whole calorie deficit/ muscle gain thing. I will check out the suggested link. I've got to sleep now as I'm in the UK so will check in again!
  • I've got about 7lbs to go, mostly tummy area. I've lost about 58+ lbs, slowly over the last 3 1/2 years, exercising for the most part. What's puzzling me is that I've lost an inch off my waist, hips and thighs in the last few weeks (which I am pleased about) but only about 1llb lost in the same time frame.
  • I have suffered with depression in the past and found myself emotionally eating and then feeling worse and worse and repeating the pattern, gaining more weight, feeling worse, and so on. I had a light bulb moment about my weight about 3 1/2 years ago, took my eating under control added exercise and you know what the black…
  • Wow!!!! What an amazing achievement!!! Thanks for sharing!! If I were you I'd spend my winnings on some fab new clothes!
  • I am always pleased when people ask me how much weight I've lost! I've worked really hard to lose it and keep it off! I take it as a compliment!! I'm so proud of what I have accomplished and just love buying lovely clothes, especially from shops where I couldn't shop before hand! I will happily tell people what I've lost…
  • Managing to do 1000 calories on the treadmill!!!! Very hot and sweaty!!! Most of it was done at incline 15 with a speed of 6. When I went back to the gym 8 weeks ago i was aiming for 200 cals and only managed 3 minutes on incline 10. Very pleased with myself!!! I've had to buy a new pair of trainers!!!
  • If i know i am going to be eating away from home a lot i will have a look through calories for food i might chose when out so i can still make healthy choices, i find it keeps me focussed. It needs to be a lifestyle change. Like others suggest i don't eat all my exercise calories back. Good luck.
  • I have bad days too from time to time, then the guilt kicks in so i just have a really focussed week with my food and do loads of exercise to offset! I also think that a day off (once in a while) can wake your metabolism up! Not sure if its' a scientific fact!
  • My husband and I spent years yo-yoing diet wise. Our most recent effort started by me deciding that this time my weight loss journey would work, that was 3+ years ago. My husband didn't think i would be successful but after 6 good months he joined the band wagon. Previously he always did better than me and i would fail…
  • I love fruit and fibre bran flakes and i could eat bowls of the stuff! What i do now is weigh it out and have it with very low fat greek yogurt and strawberries followed by a hot drink. I also use a small spoon to eat it as it takes longer to eat. Hope this helps.
  • I've just goggled The Hunger Scale, how useful! Many thanks to whoever posted that suggestion. I also found an interesting article about physical and emotional hunger, useful to me as I tend to be an emotional eater, although a lot less now I hit the gym regularly and log my foods. To the OP: drinking a glass of water 20…
  • Reading your post you say that you thought you had been doing well with your workouts over the last month- so take encouragement from that. Fitness takes time to build up so just keep pushing forward and do your best! Don't let your boot camp experience put you off. In my own personal experience it takes time to build up…
  • I have been on and off logging for a long time. I gained about 14lbs over the summer due to not exercising due to broken toe and eating too much. I'm back to logging and the weight has come off again. I find logging keeps me focussed and mindful and reading the posts is interesting and keeps me on the right track. I am…
  • Interesting responses to what to count as water. Food for thought indeed! I have never counted my tea/coffee in my water and never reach the recommended water intake for the day! Now if I keep on drinking like I've been drinking I'll exceed my water target! A miracle indeed! I've improved my lifestyle with no effort! What…
  • Hi! I do a lot of swimming and had a swimming lesson with the pt at my gym for techniques for swimming front crawl- it has a lot to do with core strength so I've worked on that and my legs are now higher in the water. When I was working on improving my kicking I was told to really splash as i learnt how to do it properly.…
  • I tend to use the cheaper supermarkets that have good priced basics - Aldi do lovely salads for 89p which I have with an omlette, chicken or ham etc. You probably need to do comparision shopping if budget is important to you. I realise how tragic I am when I won't buy branded items and go to the cheapest place I know to…
  • We sadly lost my Father in law in February after he fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. It was a truly awful time but my husband and I really focussed on our own health, realising if we weren't careful our own health would suffer. We lost our appetites for a while but were very mindful that we made good food…
  • I don't like to eat my main meal too soon before going to the gym, so I tend to switch it around when I'm going in the evening. I'll eat my main meal at lunchtime, have a snack a couple of hours before gym and a snack after if I' really hungry ( a protein bar works well for me!) As other posters have said it's trial and…
  • Fruit smoothies are my go to breakfast. Easy to make and keeps me full for ages!
  • I always do more cardio as I am trying to lose weight but also add in some weight training for strength. For me cardio burns up the cals!
  • Burning 450 cals in 40 mins on the treadmill walking as quickly as I could up a steep incline! Managed 15 mins on incline 15! 6 weeks ago could barely do 3 mins at incline 10! Thrilled!! I'll have to try to beat that next time!!!!
  • Sounds like we have similar goals! I go to the gym and do 40 mins of cardio to really burn the calories, then go on weight training. I do 3 sets 1x20 1x15 1x10 reps increasing the weight by 5 on each rep with the aim of increasing starting weight as I get stronger! It is working for me! Good luck!
  • You really need to log it all! Once you have logged something for the first time it comes up in the add food section and all you need to do is tick the box and press add checked .I find being able to review my diary helps if I stall and it helps with knowing the macros in your food. As others have said nuts are calorie…
