I use a fit bit, I don't really like how it gives you cals back for all the steps you take, do I try just to use half the exercise cals!

I would also recommend a HRM,,, it gives you an accurate reading of the calories you are burning, not just a general estimate!!

Bump,, very interesting suggestions!

I do continue to keep mine running during the cool down. The reason i do this is because my heart rate is still high so i'm guessing i'm still burnng calories! I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do though,, but it's working for me! Hope that helps. :)

I also want to know! :)

Thanks xx

I use a HRM and log it under general circuit training,, i find i get the most accurate results that way! Hope that helps :)

I think i would rest the ankle and let it heal properly,,, what about doing strangth exercises instead,, would still give you a good calorie burn without putting too much strain on your ankle! Hope you get well soon :)

I would also check out you tube for strength training exercises,, i've found it really useful for ideas for different exercise using weights and resistance bands etc,,, Good luck :)

C25K worked wonders for me,, would advise get good running shoes and follow the programme,, i was a bit too keen and didn't rest and pushed it too hard too quick and got injured so had to rest for 6 weeks!!! Take it slowly and don't be afraid to repeat days if you feel you need to. Good luck and happy running!! xx :)

I use a heart rate monitor.. hope this helps! x

I have a HRM (heart rate monitor), which tell me the exact cals burned each workout! Hope that helps.

My advise would be to start of slowly and build it up,,, use your treadmill,,, i downloaded the Couch 2 5 K to get me started and couldn't believe how quickly i built up my strength and distance!!! Use your weight also,, they are a valuable tool in weight loss!! You tube has some great workouts that will help you get…

I also prefer the gum for the same reasons,, that sounds like a really good deal,, i'd grab it!!!

I'd like to know this too!! I too suffer from shin splints so haven't been able to run for 2 weeks now!!

I was also doing the C25K,, but had to stop for a while due to an injury (not taking rest days!!), but hope to continue with it asap! It's a fantastic app and i can't wait to get back to it!!
-
I just started in the gym 5 weeks ago, and was just like you,, didn't know where to start! I would also recommend starting slowly, you don't want to over do it straight away,,, i downloaded the C25K (couch to 5K) app on my phone and have been following the programme and am now jogging for 25 mins at a time!! I would highly…
-
I love too,, have it most days,, you can even get it in extra light,, it's a must have!!
-
I had never run before, so i downloaded the C25K app on my phone,, I'm loving it, it pushes me a little further each day,, I'm now on week 5 and will be doing my first 20 min run tomorrow,, I've also downloaded the Bridge to 10K which i intend to to do as soon as I've completed the C25K!! I would really recommend them!!…

I have also just started running,, i'm on week 5 of the C25K, and i'm now seeing a bit difference in my thighs,, so is everyone else begining to notice!! Give it time,, it's still early day for you,,, you will probably start noticing a difference in the next few weeks,, keep at it and be patient!!
