  • 55 Aussie (I'm sorry I refuse to go oi oi oi) female and starting all over again after a break away during which I seem to have put all the weight back on that I originally lost - yep.
  • Cans of tuna or salmon? Cottage or ricotta cheese? A protein bar? Cold cuts? Beans or legumes? One of those whey shakes?
  • Why not just eat the food that you like to eat. If you like grapefruit then eat it. If you don't like it then don't eat it - simple. How about bacon and eggs? Taste delicious, chock full of protein and fat - surely they must qualify as super foods. I can eat bacon and eggs with tomato spinach and onion for breakfast and be…
  • It would be interesting to see how long those on very calorie restricted diets last (you know the 1000, 1200 or less group) compared to those with a more generous, flexible allowance. Plus how long people can stick to really rigorous "healthy" diets without anything supposedly "naughty".
  • This might seem glib but I eat food - what I feel like - I try to include some protein with every meal - that's it. Nothing special or magical I just keep an eye on portion size and total calories at the end of the day.
  • I've seen the soup makers advertised too - frankly I'd see how you go making soup in the slow cooker first and see if you like it. I do soup in mine in winter in large batches and freeze it in individual portions. If you wanted something thicker just wait till it cools and run it through a food processor or blender.
  • I must be old - I remember when Barangaroo was plain old Walsh Bay. It must be exciting watching the building/redevelopment happen. A long time ago (1984 to 1996) I worked in Goulburn Street (Chinatown end) overlooking what was to be Darling Harbour as we know it now - we used to make jokes about having harbour views from…

  • This is actually a bit scary but here goes. This was me about three years ago (the picture isn't that good because it was part of an animation project I was doing) and I have absolutely no idea how much I weighed at that point in time - quite a bit more than I do now. This is me today - there's a bit of a difference. Now…
  • Sorry I lost track of when I last posted in here - just lots of stuff going on. Anyway this is for March 6, 7, 8 and 9. Did I exercise for 20+ minutes? Yes for all days - sometimes more depending on the day. Did I stay within my calorie budget? Yes for all days Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes everything…
  • I ran your figures through scooby's calculator (http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/) and came up with a BMR of 2236, and a TDEE of 3466. BMR is Basal Metabolic Rate - that is what you would burn if you did nothing at all - ie bedridden TDEE is total daily energy expenditure - I put you as having 3 - 5 hours of…
  • Yes - I saw your post and remembered the article.
  • Apart from the possibility of inaccurate tracking/logging you could have a read of this article and see if it helps you http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/why-big-caloric-deficits-and-lots-of-activity-can-hurt-fat-loss.html
  • Yep I got that the OP is young - in fact at 16 (rather than the 18 in her profile) she shouldn't be encouraged to eat less as she could quite possibly still be growing. My advice still stands. You should be eating the 1690 - more if you exercise (say half of what you burn).
  • Is 1690 what MFP gave you? You don't mention height, weight or at what rate you wish to lose - so unable to help except to say eat the 1690. If you want to double check the calorie goal you could put your figures in here http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ and see what comes up - but mind you with that method…
  • That sounds absolutely delicious.

  • So we are talking about one day when all you consume is water and then go on the diet? No - it's not necessary to do this. Read the sexy pants link somebody else posted above - work out a reasonable calorie deficit, log everything you consume, weighing and measuring everything, do some exercise and just keep at it - it…

  • Candi - I don't use DVDs - I get my yoga workouts at the moment from YouTube - there's this mad American guy on there by the name of Sean Vigue who has quite a few workouts and damn that guy is built and very flexible. I can really feel the tingling muscles when I have finished one of his sessions - really gets the blood…
  • Good Morning - week 7 wow time is really flying. I've not been up to much - just plodding away. I still don't have a new scale so don't know what my numbers are which is both liberating and frustrating at the same time. I'll make sure I have a set by next week which is when I'm due to weigh in again - crossing fingers that…
  • This is what I do with anything in a jar or container that will fit on my scale - saves the bother of having to weigh the spoon and then subtract.
  • Hi, I'm Robin and I'm back for my fourth attempt at this challenge. I've dipped out previously due to not exercising - this month my goal is to get the exercise done every single day - no exceptions.
  • I actually don't know what my current weight is as my scale broke a few weeks ago (my son was jumping on it apparently - sighs) but clothes are looser and measurements decreasing so all is good. I'll get a new one sooner or later. My personal goal for this month is to do some form of exercise every day - the plan is to do…

  • Good God! Lap band surgery and you're a size 12 - damn that's my goal. I'd be getting a new doctor.
  • I think you might be on to something there
