  • Try drinking some light soy milk with some sugar free chocolate syrup stirred in. It does the trick for me. It only ends up being around 140 calories and maybe 8 sugars. It is also very filling.
  • This isn't exactly a food, but it works for me when the cravings hit: I take either 1 or 2 cups of Light Vanilla Soymilk (Silk brand is my favorite), and mix in some sugar free chocolate syrup. It is SO filling and you can make it as chocolatey as you like. The syrup I use is the Great Value brand from Wal Mart and is only…
  • This helps me as well. TOM arrived for me today and for once I am actually glad. This past week has been the worst I have had in months in terms of cravings. I am sure just coming back from a week long vacation has something to do with it... I ate constantly the whole time we were away. :( UGH! Maybe I can finally feel…
  • Yes, eat more food (healthy food)! Not sugary, salty stuff. The less man-made foods you eat, the better. Your body thinks it is starving, so it is keeping everything it can (and you are losing any muscle that you had). Not good.

  • I eat 1400-1500 calories a day and exercise without thinking about carbohydrates and I am absolutely not hungry. And I still lose weight. I am just doing what MFP has set up here at this website and it has worked for me. My profile pic tells the story. If you had rather not eat carbohydrates, then that is great! Whatever…

  • Just a question.... If one is following a low carb diet, then how is MFP helpful to you? I wouldn't think you'd need MFP at all if you are doing low carb. ???
  • Well, I didn't exactly have a loss.... But I only gained 2 lbs in a week (some of which may be fluid). So I guess I can handle that. I'm working hard to get it back off.
  • If your body thinks it isn't getting enough water, it will hold onto whatever water it can. Thus, water weight gain. Give it plenty of water, and it will turn loose what water is stored. 8 cups a day (equals about 4 bottles of water).
  • Great! Hey, whatever works!
  • So you don't count calories at all?
  • I suppose the same results would occur, but eating healthy foods and exercising is far easier and more realistic for me personally. Low carb may work great for you. If so, then I would say go for it.
  • I guess everyone is different, but when I tried it several years ago, I did not feel well physically and found it harder to exercise without eating many carbs. And not to mention that this isn't the type of diet one could maintain for their lifetime. It is a short-lived thing that you can do for a while, but it is not…
  • 1200 cals may be okay to begin with, but you will HAVE TO increase your calories as you start losing weight or else you will go into starvation mode and everything will come to a screeching halt. Been there, done that. And exercise is a must. Eating right will only get you so far. Sad but true.
  • SHBoss is a friend of mine on this site and has been very helpful to me and countless others here. Very knowledgable on weight loss and nutrition. He has a blog and here's a topic you may want to check out. He has some very good information. I enjoy reading his entries.…
  • Sport Beans are like jellybeans (the ones I eat are made by Jelly Belly), and you can put them in your running belt for a pick-me-up on a long run. They really helped me when I did my last 10K race. You can find them at most athletic stores like ****'s Sporting Goods or Gearhead Outfitters. A friend of mine said she saw…
  • So true. Gotta get a good calorie burn in I'd say 4-5 times a week and eat most of those calories back. I know, I know.... it sounds counter productive. But I swear it works. It worked for me.
  • I would say try to burn more calories. Add some weight training and build some muscle. As we all know, muscle helps you burn more fat. You may want to up your calories more as well. 1200 seems very low. You may be in 'starvation mode'. And keep a super close eye on your sugar intake and sodium intake. Those two things are…
  • Go for a good run (or a walk). I find that if I am having a bad day, after I have a good hard run I feel so much better.
  • I've tried the water belt but it sloshed around too much and drove me insane. I tried the handheld kind but it also drove me insane. If I'm running outdoors, I make a point to have my own 'water stop' during my route so that I can get a quick drink and then be on my way. This is normally at my vehicle. I sit a water bottle…
  • Sometimes I drink a couple of cups of Light Soymilk with some sugar free chocolate syrup stirred in. It is very filling and it seems to stick with me for a good while. Another thing to try is the Weight Watchers brand light mozzarella string cheese sticks. They are only 50 cals each and although they aren't sweet, they do…
  • Anything loaded with protein... • Same here. I am eating everything in sight. Nothing I eat makes me happy. UGH!! It still hasn't arrived, but I wish it would hurry the hell up. I am sick of feeling and acting like an out of control pig.
  • PASTA, PASTA, PASTA! I absolutely love it, but as soon as I have finished eating it, my stomach looks and feels as if someone has taken an air pump to it. And it stays that way for the whole next day after I have eaten it. As much as I love it, the taste is just not worth the misery it brings me. :(

  • I agree with this 100 percent. When you try this hard to lose weight and you are seeing results, it really does help your morale if your significant other takes notice and gives you a nice comment every now and then. It goes a very long way and is so very appreciated.
