it vibrates when you've been sitting for an hour or more to remind you to get up and take more steps. I find it helpful as a nice reminder.

hi - I take this supplement sometimes with, or before, breakfast and dinner (with lots of water) - seems to set the whole day off in the right direction, with me not nibblish before lunch or in the evening. I think it's helpful. It's soluble fiber, so very good for you. I also try to eat at least 25-35 grams of fiber…

yes, I suppose this is what I do, although not in any formulaic way, and I hadn't used that label. I probably don't eat quite enough calories most days of the week to maintain my weight (I eat around 1400ish per day and probably need 1500ish - don't exercise and am a smallish middle aged woman). Keeping myself a tiny bit…

those ideas sound delicious!

what brand of turkey sausage patty do you use? been on the lookout for one that is lower in cals...

does that keep you full until lunch?

during the week, i often resort to packaged preportioned breakfasts - jimmy dean d-lights sausage egg and cheese (250 cals) or similar sandwich by lean cuisine, or a breakfast quesadilla from smart ones (230 cals if I recall). on weekends i'll poach an egg and nest it in kale and chickpeas or make a one whole egg, 4 egg…

I would think yes, but you are much more likely to succeed while not tracking if you eat the same several things or close to it every day. In that way although you are not formally tracking calories, you have a system that keeps you on target and close to your energy requirements for the day. On the other hand, if you stop…

I think people's advice to wait it out a bit and see what happens is sound. could be glycogen. on the other hand, if you're panicking, experiment with lowering the calories by 250-500 per day. See what happens for next two weeks. By trial and error you can zero in on what YOUR maintenance levels will be. The guidelines…

yay for me. But I try to keep it to one a day since there's no nutritional value and it's filled with chemicals.

I did 1200 while losing for four months. now at BMI of 19.5 and maintaining at 1400 per day most days. feel free to add me : )

Well...a few questions, barring that there is some medical reason for the advice that you're not mentioning... 1. What region of the country do you live in? And is it rural or urban? In some areas of the country, most of the people are overweight/obese - and there may be different social norms in those places? 2. Is your…

I also have the Withings scale and love it! Aria is the same idea I think.

something that helped me at the beginning was to eat packaged food. i know it's not the healthiest for long-term, but it helped me get used to reduced portion sizes and "eyeballing" the right amount of various foods to eat. I'd volumize the packaged food with lots of steamed or raw greens and non-starchy veggies. over…

JesterMFP: good question - I think they were...study participants were from the National Weight Control Registry...so perhaps not all of them monitoring, but I'm betting a lot of them were tracking intake to some extent at least.

no fiber in sushi - if you could add some steamed broccoli or something that would help a lot. plus the soy sauce has lots of sodium so you might be thirsty and mistaking that for hunger? Try a big bottle of water and see if that helps.

thanks, amydadeyrhode! will do my best!

hey there - definitely! i'm a mom of one toddler and work full time in academic medicine. i was super careful during my pregnancy with diet - was normal weight but developed gestational diabetes. i ended up only gaining 17 pounds during the pregnancy and then losing 35 after the birth! But then....while breastfeeding and…

please feel free to add me as a friend. anyone else can as well!

smc0170 - thanks - yes, i plan to be strategic at breakfast to set the day up well. high protein fare, keep it healthy and low-carb high fiber for that meal should help launch each day in the right direction. thanks! will also try to not snack, something I avoid usually, so hoping that won't be too hard.

good advice, busyrae! i always regret it when i overstuff myself. and will definitely be doing lots of swimming and some walking, which should help. if my husband will watch our daughter, i'll even try to sneak in a treadmill run if i can. and i like the no guilt advice. seriously - there's enough guilt in life already -…

yopeeps- thanks for the advice! i will try to work out - have my clothes and shoes packed! It's tough with an 18 month old in tow, but will do my best!! and even if no dedicated workout possible, plan to stay active the whole time.
-
thanks, silly goose - that's definitely my plan. at the same time, i don't want to go too hog wild (something i've noticed i'm prone to now on maintenance whenever i'm out of my routine).

Initially I picked a number toward the upper range of what I thought from previous times I felt rok with. That seemed most attainable. Once I got there and found the loss to that point relatively easy, i moved it down by 5 pounds, and then by 5 more, and finally 5 more. Ultimately, I was looking for a "window" of give or…

thank you! now just have to figure out how to "friend" you!
