  • rabbitjb for sure, I'm grateful that people can be very helpful. It's good to know the information is out there. Yes, strength training is definitely part of it, I'm still working on technique and where is my starting point. I hope the universal gym which is incomplete is enough to get me started. I have access to a pool…
  • @sergeantSausage, it actually helps me and make decisions based on how my body feels. I am analytically in nature and I totally get that I'm in the 'newbie gains' territory. I'm 12lbs away to getting to my goal weight (up from 10) so I'm sure I have a lot of room to hit walls and plateaus. I just want to be ready when the…
  • I had the vivosmart for about a week and I couldn't get the damn thing to work seemly with anything. near the end the vivosmart couldn't even sync to the android phone. I never got it to even connect to the garmin site via the USB connector (with software). Total bust. I hope it's just a hick up for you regarding MFP, I…
  • interesting, thank you, this is contrary to what I've been reading but it's something I'll watch with my own progress.
  • Bodymedia works o the arm. Getting a new one is pricy considering the subscription rate but I use it constantly and compared everyday actives with other brands and found it simular. I love the detail it can give compared to other models and ms ir was big back in 2009 and r he integration works nice in andriod and the phone…
  • This is a very loaded question. There are many reasons why you snack, because the food is there, eliminate that. Why do you not have a food plan (that you can stick with). Is your caloric deficit too high. Are you actually really starving? Are you addicted to carbs (in all forms). Are you eating throughout the day to…
  • pretty sure it works if it doesn't kill you first. It's very intense and the key to any exercise is to be intense enough for your particular conditions. An important factor is also how much you eat and your long term caloric deficit, your general mental attitude and how your energy levels are.. All of it counts.

  • You need to find your real metabolic rate, you can start by finding a fat scale to find the fat% you have. You are already starting with an 'normal range' in terms of bmi so you are already pushing the limit of what you can do. Women should not going below 25% unless you are getting into fitness (while eating a lot of…
  • not looking for abs either, it's strange how people can mist-rue my intentions. I fully realize that I'm new, but I'm also not looking to gain muscle or in a bulk phase. I'm purely on a cutting phase (an amateurish one that). I have to read up on macro balance and if modern grains ala 'wheat belly' has any validity.
  • I'm not interested in building muscle right now, just keeping it, perhaps figure out if metabolism wise I'm healthy and drop my BF%. The calories in and out doesn't seem to be working in a good way. I'm loosing a lot of weight and fat, but I'm not exactly sure why. Yes I'm very much a newbie in actual activities so I guess…
  • I concur with the weighing. I've been doing fantastically but I know all to well the scale is likely off my 5%, my weight will fluctuate. My body content of fat and muscle will be all over the place. The only way to know if you are loosing weight is to average out your weigh in a on a weekly basis. This is why it's very…
  • @TheVirgoddess‌, agreed I'm just started and the first priority is just be aware of what I was eating. Amazing to learn a semi large sushi meal was 1600 calorie!
  • @cwolfman13 always has to be that way dammit. I guess I'll have to head towards 12% being asian likely doesn't help either but I want to be fit too.
  • @psulmon if your ego can handle it use a bright light to highlight your curves.. I promise you they show.
  • @xcalygrl thanks for sharing. I think the real rule is this. the first thing people complain about is the area that will be the last to go. lol
  • Food offerings is very much a social thing. like drinking, or joining in a communal meal. it's like saying "what you don't want to be one of us? why not" and the prodding starts. The drive to have people feel they belong based on this bias is bad. They aren't respecting the person if they aren't accepting of the blanket no…
  • I didn't mean to say that you can live of fat, it's a mix of fat and protein that matters. As for the source I wish I remembered where I saw it. I'm pretty sure it was a prim-time tv show that was being shown on youtube illegally. They have had simular results when they had an open store were people were free to buy what…
  • the science of atkins has been dis proven by an indirect way by a using metabolic chamber analysis between regular caloric watching and so called low carbing. There is validity to kitosis but it's not a lifestyle you can live, most people can't stay on it. Body builders call it cutting and it's been done for years. What…
  • anyone going to get a jawbone up 3? it is the integration of bodymedia technology using skin measurements rather than math extrapolations from just an acclerometer? I've used a garmin Vivosmart. Have a polar Loop, a bodymedia link, used a mio alpha and have on order a M400. I'm considering upgrading the up3 but it's an…
  • I do it daily about the same time in the morning, and aware if I just moved. It's never been lower than 89 but hovers around 92-95. I did the cycle and was okay running between 140-150. my HRM isn't that good so I'm waiting to see one that is more usuable. I have jumped to 170 occasionally but I don't stay there long given…
  • @segacs, I'm sure that there are doctors and ace certified trainers who know there stuff that are on here. They aren't being paid where you would automatically trust there words. We are a collection of random people some knowledgeable, some clueless or have a completely different understanding of how things work. There is…
  • there wasn't anything specific in google. I looked but thanks. I'll dig a little deeper. I was referring to discussions that have already been done on here.
  • segacs: yeah I know the legal liability of internet users and we aren't doctors and paid as such. problem is that even doctors can be too easy on doing tests. This is all fine and dandy when you have adequate medical insurance but when you have to pay things out of pocket you want to take the tests only in areas where…
  • um the gamut of tests for stress tests can be in the 1000 range. I guess it will have to weight unless the doctor can specify that it is a issue with me.
  • It's defines rely from not cooling doen enough. I will watch it but it down st lat long
  • I'll need to see if 140 HR is okay for me. My concern is that at that rate I don't feel anything. then again I keep thinking it has to hurt. Being Asain does that lol.
  • I realize that my heart rate isn't super high. just wasn't sure where to aim for. I don't think I have a heart condition and other than breathing and and my hate for giggling I can do any exercise I throw myself at it. My maximal heart rate based on the updated formula is 176=208-0.7*45. Thanks everyone who shared there…
  • I"m not aiming to do my maximal to cause lactic acid build up. I guess what would be considered 'aerobic zone' .. I'm no where near fit anyway to run that fast. I'm just planning for future running to burn as much calories as possible rather than going slow and easy.
  • thank you very much for your input. I will definitely be watchful of recovery times etc. I think right now it's o new my body can deal with it but as you say it will catch up eventually. I am using a fat scale and not calipers I have measured my waist and that has only gone down a little. I know about how it should be long…
