Well, my scale has seemed sketchy at times. Like I can weigh myself and ten minutes later it will show a different weight. My weight was up by a pound. I know I shouldn’t rely on the scale so much; but I feel if I don’t I will let myself get out of control.
-
I agree it makes no sense to have gain weight over night. The scale is probably partly to blame. I know I didn’t eat an excess of 35,000 calories in the day that would translate into fat.

I struggle with alcohol. And I could use the encouragement and ideas to keep it under control. I am not currently working at this time and depression and anxiety certainly play a part. I know I can’t go cold turkey, but would appreciate support in cutting down. Thank you.
-
I would like to encourage you and likewise receive encouragement. Some life events have led me off track. I need to regain control. Maybe we can support each other.

nice looking couple! congratulations.

The reality is I will have to. There is no wiggle room with me and my weight. If I am not diligent in tracking everything...I will gain. So I either count calories forever or accept a certain about of weight gain.

how do you determine your body fat?

I like frozen entrees. I am careful to select ones that are high in protein, low in fat with limited ingredients. If I had to make those similar entrees, I would be in trouble. While measuring out a fourth a cup of cheese, for example...I would be eating three slices in the process. I can't be hands on with food. too much…

I would eat a modest dinner and compensate for it tomorrow.

maybe when dining out avoid meals that are difficult to assess. or ask for items on the side. For example, If you order a chicken salad...maybe ask for the chicken and dressing on the side. That way you can estimate the calories in the chicken before it gets all mixed up in the salad. and dressing is always better to have…

impressive. you both look happy!
-
well, I have been off the site for a while so I have little data.
-
any ideas for some delicious low cal, low fat dressings? I have a restricted fat allowance. Also, please let me know how to store and how long it can be stored. thank you.
-
yes, lots of fatigue. Partly due to the three weeks bedridden. partly due to having lost 10 pounds in the hospital putting me under 100 pounds. partly due to some depression over it all.

Thank you JustKeepSwimming for your response and thank you to everyone who responded. Yes, the concern is that fat causes the increase in enzyme production which may trigger an attack. I have an MRI this weekend to check the status of my healing. After which I will hear back from my doctor and will ask him a few more…

At least in the case of foods containing non-gluten grains--an argument could be made that the label is trying to assure you that the product was not contaminated with gluten as it may have been processed in a facility that processes products containing gluten. I was at a restaurant the other day and a woman asked for a…

thank you. i hope my question didn't come off as completely idiotic. i know that pureeing a vegetable/fruit doesn't nullify it as being part of its particular food group. i just didn't know if it was considered a "serving" of veg/fruit for nutritional purposes. Not sure if that makes sense. But i know that tomato juice is…

cwolfman13...can you elaborate on your comment?
-
thank you for this bit of hope.

thank you for the replies. I have been on ambien for over three years consistently. I have experienced some minor sleep eating before...but it was more like I went to bed with a snack and got up and grabbed some more and didn't remember getting more. I never experienced the sleep texts or calls and certainly not driving. I…
-
understood on the ambien front. it isn't that I am downplaying the sleep eating...but right now I am still in shock the amount of food I ate (both calories and volume.)
-
this is absolutely mortifying...yes, because of the ambien...but also it takes me a long time to lose 1.5 pounds. I can't believe I gained it back in a day.
-
I agree it is very important to get to the root of the problem. And I am. But right now I am freaking out about the weight.

yes, birth control is a medication that has been known to cause heightened liver enzymes. But I have been on it for so long without incident. It just seems strange that my enzymes would spike so dramatically within a matter of a few days. (also, I was on my placebo week, incidentally.)
-
thanks for the input. medicationwise...nothing new. I am on hormonal birth control--but I have been on that for years. ironically, this test came at the end of being fed consistently and nutritiously and fully hydrated.

I am almost 5'6'' and 2000 calories a day would surely cause me to gain weight. I often hit 2K a couple of times a week, but I try to limit it where I can. I am relatively inactive (full time desk job; full time mom of toddler.) ultimately, it depends on what weight you want to maintain?
-
that is what I have in my refrigerator right now! my family buys it...or rather I buy it for them.

I appreciate the feedback. I know on some level my relationship with food isn't "normal." well, normal probably isn't the best term--as what exactly defines "normal"? However, I know my food choices probably aren't ideal. I should broaden the scope a bit on what I feel comfortable with. strangely, it isn't really about…

regarding the bread comment I made. yes, I understand...it sounds a little silly or paranoid. but I just don't see a lot of nutritional value in bread. I see it as a delivery device for more nutritional foods or a fun food to each on evening's out. but honestly, I have a hard time fitting into my daily diet.

I like the idea of using "one ingredient" foods as a guide. It is more nutritionally sound and almost always likely for weight loss friendly (depending upon your choices).
