Gaining weight over night?
I weighed myself before bed and weighed myself this morning. I didn’t eat or drink between weigh-ins. Yet my weight is higher this morning. WTF???

Help with viewing my recent posts
I thought there used to be a way i could see the posts I recently posted so I could see if someone responded. Not just the discussions I started but ones I replied to. Other than scrolling down the forums. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Best/most accurate weight maintenance calculator
I seem to get a discrepancy of up to 200-300 calories a day depending on the site. Anyone know of one that they believe is particularly accurate? Also, it would help if it allowed for fractions of pounds and inches to be used--especially if you are short--a half of an inch can make a difference.

Pancreatitis
I recently was hospitalized for severe acute pancreatitis. I was hospitalized for close to three weeks, on the ventilator for two weeks in an induced medical coma. I lost over ten pounds. This morning I weighed 96 pounds (I am 5'5''). I am told to eat low fat and high protein and lots of fruit and veggies. The problem is,…

does tomato soup count as a vegetable?
The brand I buy has no added salt and has 12g of dietary fiber.

very scared about sleep binge
I woke up this morning to discover I ate an entire large pizza (from a pizza shop). My family had eaten the other large pizza the night before and the remainder pizza was in the refrigerator. I also ate 4 normal size powdered cake donuts. I have no recollection of this. I suspect ambien (which I will be discussing with my…

liver enzymes increased dramatically
I was hoping someone would have some information on this subject. I have suffered with an eating disorder for a long time. I went to an eating disorder facility for treatment. they tested my blood about 5 times in the two weeks I was there. All normal. On the day of discharge, I was tested again. This time my ALT, AST and…

ideas for great, filling, healthy, low-cal meals you can eat anytime of day...
my current favorite is an omelet. 4 egg whites; 8 grape tomatoes unsliced; a cup (or more) of mushrooms; 2 cups of raw spinach. I let the veggies cook a bit and then add the egg whites. I use zero-calorie cooking spray...but olive oil would add wonderful flavor. all in, the meal is around 150 calories (depending on how…

falling into eating particular foods each day
I don't know if it is necessarily bad to eat the same thing everyday...though I do suspect one misses out on a larger nutritional range. currently, I eat a pint of mushrooms (sounds like a lot but is only 60 calories total); several egg whites, spinach, mixed greens, tomatoes, almond milk and a piece of fruit (apple or…

gaining weight in a particular part of your body (for the ladies)
I have always read you can't spot reduce. basically, you lose weight evenly throughout your body. However, in the last few months I gained about 2-3 pounds. I suspect this is real weight and not just fluctuations because my weight never fluctuates down to where it was before. Strangely, most of my body looks the…

delayed muscle pain after physical activity?
Okay, this is not exactly an exercise question...but here it goes. On Sunday, I was trying to show what a super star gymnast I used to be to my stepdaughter. I didn't stretch out and have done these bends and flips in years. Stupid. but 4 days later I feel that my whole abdomen is in pain as in it hurts to sneeze. Is this…

does anyone NOT weigh themselves at all
My husband thought my weighing was getting out of hand so he hid my scale. Yes, I could buy another and hide it...but I don't want to be lying to him or have this issue be a point of argument between us. I no longer have a gym membership, so I can't weigh there. I guess I will have to go by how my clothes fit and/or tape…

calorie estimate...you best guess
sorry...I know this is a little difficult to answer, but I was hoping to get some feedback. I frequent a restaurant often. I always get an omelet made with egg whites, and some veggies. no cheese, meat, toast, etc. obviously, I know the omelet is prepared with oil. but it is hard for me to tell exactly how much because the…

sashimi help...
any idea how many calories 6 thinly sliced pieces of tilapia sashimi would be? (the slices are not the typical thicker slices or pieces typically served). I guess if you were to pile them up it would be the width of a deck of cards. Thanks. I happen to really enjoy it, but I haven't been able to determine calories.

extreme weight jump
my weight went up 5 pounds over the last four days. I an anticipating my period, but I have never seen this sort of jump. I am freaking out. I am not constipated and my diet has not changed. I guess if it doesn't subside during the week, I have no choice but to assume it is weight gain.

sunscreen expiration dates
I am relating this to outside fitness and exercise. does anyone know if the expiration dates on sunscreen are absolute? I am not talking about using a sunscreen 5 years expired...but rather 6 months post expiration (provided the sunscreen was properly stored).

the "why did i just eat that" thread.
I don't think people should beat themselves up about eating something they hadn't anticipated or otherwise regret on some level. just curious what your "why did i eat that" meals have been in the last couple of days. If you haven't had any...that is great. This is targeted at people who have had a "bad" meal (in their…

body's turnaround time for weighloss and weigh gain
okay, i will articulate this as well as possible. typically, water weight and waste aside, does your body gain and lose in current time as a surplus or deficit is implemented? Example, if someone goes on vacation and truly over eats for the entire week (let's say they ate an additional 500 calories each day). at the end of…

if you eat at a deficit for a long enough time...
A bit of a strange (and perhaps silly) question... Take a woman weighing 150, who is 5'5'', who ate 1200 calories (not trying to engage in the 1200 calorie debate) for a long period of time...let's say 5 years. In that time, that person should have lost down to 100 pounds (1200 calories is still a deficit for a sedentary…

Food Scale Users...Questions
Do you weigh (and if you do--do you find a difference) in prepackaged, portioned items...such as 100 calorie pop-corn bags, 100 calorie cookie packet (that sort of thing). To my knowledge these items are packaged based on weight. Do you weigh liquids? or is that an appropriate use of a measuring cup. Do you weigh liquidity…

TDEE question, quick clarification
yes, another TDEE post. I am on the Scooby site that is referenced time and again on MFP. this line confused me: Daily calories to maintain weight (TDEE)--but then it states how many pounds you will lose per month/year eating this amount. if this is your maintenance calorie intake, why does it show you losing at all?

I'm ditching breakfast...
I have been whining about how my weight has gone up a couple of pounds and not settled back down in over a month! I've accepted it is real weight gain and not a passing fluctuation. So, what have I been doing differently? At first, I couldn't think of anything signficant. But, to be honest, there is one thing...I started…

unexplained nausea
anyone experience this? i know that 1.) i am not pregnant; 2.) i do not have food poisioning; and 3.) i do not have the stomach flu. i postponed lunch today due to an appointment and had a very light breakfast of some plain (no milk) rice chex...but as soon as i bit into lunch a wave of nausea hit me like a ton of bricks.…

are cravings real? or, ultimately, an excuse to eat...
I ask myself this frequently. i will eat a modest lunch and immediately after i feel hungry...and not just hungry...hungry for something specific. the last couple of days it has been junior mints. the craving was so strong, that the first store i stopped at was out--so i went to another store. i questioned myself for about…

weight fluctuation upwards...not going back down
I posted a while back that my weight has been fluctuating upwards and seems perfectly content to stay there. I haven't seen it go back down to where it was in about three weeks. I know all of the things (water retention, TOM, exercise, hormones, full-moon, just because) that can cause fluctuations. but at this point i need…

do you eat a lot of fish? mercury concerns?
fish is definitely a big part of my diet. in fact, 3-4 days a week i eat tuna fish (in the foil packet) for lunch or dinner. In addition, I may have fish (like tilapia or salmon) for a meal twice a week as well. Tuna packets are convenient; great protein; low calorie; goes great with veggies, etc. then i started to…

addicted to gum?
i chew about 1-2 packs of sugarless gum on weekdays (between 2-3 packs on weekends). i know it is a supplemental behavior to eating. i am not concerned about the calories that much (yes, i realize sugarless gum is not calorie-free), but chewing this quantity of sugarless gum does cause excessive bloating and stomach…

diastasis recti
I had a baby two years ago. i am not overweight. i do, however, have a mild diastasis recti. i do not currently exercise, but I would like to start incorporating exercise into my life. i have gym membership. i know that one needs to be careful about certain exercises with a diastasis recti (abnominal exercises). however,…

baffled--high bad cholesterol
I recently received my blood work back from the doctor. All normal, except my LDL (bad) cholesterol. She advised me to watch my saturated fat intake. I am baffled. I am in my mid-thirties. My bmi is under 17. I do not/have not smoked. My blood pressure is and always has been very low. I eat primarily vegetables, some…

the science behind eating a minimum of 1200 calories a day
Just curious what is the rationale behind this advice. I read it everywhere--do not eat less than 1200 calories a day (for women). What happens physiologically if you do? Does it impact your metabolism, etc... It isn't my goal to eat less than 1200 calories per day...but somedays i do fall a bit short.
