I am relating this to outside fitness and exercise. does anyone know if the expiration dates on sunscreen are absolute? I am not talking about using a sunscreen 5 years expired...but rather 6 months post expiration (provided the sunscreen was properly stored).

I would use it.
Unless it is food I generally dont pay attention to expiration dates!0 -
You can still use it, but it becomes less effective than if you were to use a new bottle so you should still be careful about applying it more frequently0
