diastasis recti

I had a baby two years ago. i am not overweight. i do, however, have a mild diastasis recti. i do not currently exercise, but I would like to start incorporating exercise into my life. i have gym membership. i know that one needs to be careful about certain exercises with a diastasis recti (abnominal exercises). however, that is one area I want to improve. Any advice or information about what my expectations for success would be? can a DR be repaired through exercise? i think a good place to start is to pay for a personal trainer to get me started, but I would really appreciate your input. thank you.
