  • Peanut butter spread thinly on low cal bread or rice cakes and half a banana Hummus with veggies and pita Greek yogurt, berries, and a few T of nuts. Tofu Buddha bowl: brown rice, sautéed tofu and veggies (use beans if you don't like tofu) ginger paste, and soy sauce. Just adjust the amount of the ingredients to meet your…
  • @ketonekaren I'm working on the caffeine and will consider the alcohol if I don't see enough results.
  • @lemurcat12, I did have tests run at a hospital because I felt like I was having a heart attack! She used their test results. She did recommend continuing to go to my therapist. I didn't go to her for anxiety recommendations, but rather to confirm that I wasn't experiencing some other medical problem.
  • I am already seeing a counselor for anxiety. I was having panic attack symptoms and wanted to make sure there was not another medical reason for them. These symptoms can also be caused by heart problems, blood sugar issues, thyroid issues, etc. From the blood test and ekg, she felt comfortable agreeing it is anxiety. That…
  • If you are buying Coleman Organics from Costco, Google the company. In their FAQs on their website, they explain what the animals are fed and how they are housed. As far as antibiotics, I think people have a problem with "preventative" antibiotics being given to livestock because they feel that the practice can lead to…
  • I started using the You Are Your Own Gym app for times that I can't get to the gym. I was sick of using my busy schedule as an excuse to just do no exercise at all. The app is awesome and super flexible! If you spend some time exploring all the exercises and work out plans you'll find that the app will accommodate any…
  • We usually say exclusively breastfeeding a newborn (8-12 times a day, no supplementing) burns 500 calories or more. In your situation, you could be using around 250, but if you are trying to lose weight, I would underestimate down to only like 100 a day. If you are losing more quickly, you can always increase your…
  • Exclusively breastfeeding a newborn does burn about 500 calories a day...that's feeding 8-12 times per day. You could probably drop your calories a bit and not worry about your milk supply, especially if your child is 6 months old. IME (working with many many breastfeeding mothers) drinking enough water and managing stress…
  • Well, I gained too much weight with my second pregnancy, so there is some loose skin in my lower midsection. Not sure what to do about that. I suppose it is also the remaining fat that bugs me a little, but I've been advised on these boards to eat at maintenance and do heavy lifting since I am only 5'4" and 115 pounds as…
  • Had it for dinner last night, and when I added in my pint of Guinness --which was absolutely essential to my happiness :drinker: --I went over my calorie goal by around 350 calories (I think, I just estimated the calories in the burger and fries the best I could). I'll just exercise more today and not eat back the…
  • My goal weight was kind of randomly chosen. I had been 115 at my lowest weight while breastfeeding and felt pretty good about it, so that's what I picked. Then I started seeing pics of MFP ladies who were lifting weights and looked fab! I also looked at that site where they show pictures of people who all weigh the same…
  • I just had half a red pepper dipped in 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese. The cottage cheese has 1.5 grams of fat and 13 grams of protein. So awesome!
  • Thanks for the input, I appreciate it and will pass it on to my friend.
  • $450 a month for 2 adults and 2 children. I focus on unprocessed foods and try to get a lot of fruits and veggies, but we do not buy organic from the grocery store. We grow some of our own vegetables. We buy pork and beef in bulk from a local farmer, but buy grocery store chicken, eggs, and dairy.
  • I say, "I really don't have much of a sweet tooth." But that's actually true, cake and ice cream are ok and sometimes I want it, but it's usually not worth it to me. Plus, I can't tolerate dairy like I used to, so sometimes if it's family or close friends, I'll say, "I don't want to feel like crap later."
  • Yes, I'd log 500 calories burned as long as you are exclusively breastfeeding, especially a newborn. Fwiw, my weight loss was kinda slow at first with both kids, but then it just started falling off. Also, I'm a breastfeeding counselor if you have any other questions or need support :)
  • I would eat it, especially if it will easily fit. Then you can decide if it was worth it and remember for next time! Sometimes it really is worth it!
  • Starchy foods like bread, pasta, and rice are easy for me to overeat and don't satisfy my hunger as well as protein, fat, and veggies, so now I limit myself to having these foods once a day and I measure them. I decided that things like crackers and chips were just not worth the calories, especially since they don't fill…
  • 1) 30s 2) 120lbs 3) Michigan 4) light to moderate 5) 3-4 days per week 6) yes 6) dinner 7) 3-4 times per day 8) around 64 oz per day of water 9) I tend to overeat starchy foods, so I decided to only eat these foods once a day and measure them. I also find I feel less hungry if I eat protein, fat, and vegetables the rest of…
