I'm not really lactose intolerant... at least the only time i notice any averse affects from dairy is if I eat ice cream. I'm trying to make the switch for the savings in calories and some of the things that I've read/heard about milk and antibiotic use with cows and such.

I like the Kashi cereals too. I find myself less concerned with the sugar content and more concerned with the fiber (bonus, most of the cereals with higher amounts of fiber seem to also have less sugar, but this probably isn't the case with all). Maybe try a high fiber or an all bran cereal with some dried fruit.

I try to have vegetables as a snack as much as possible. (I also like fruits and cheese and crackers as a snack... )

I know the feeling! I try to incorporate lots veggies and some fruits as snacks since they tend to be low calorie. Carrots are awesome alone, but I find I want some sort of dip with most other veggies (laughing cow cheese wedges are awesome in these cases, or just a modest amount of dressing, etc.).
