These results are not just Body Beast, but I did the program twice and still incorporate some of the exercises in my lifting routine. It has a great model to follow for those inexperienced with weight training and a good supplement for those already familiar. It doesn't hurt to try. Stick with a good meal plan and give…

OP, I do all sorts of cardio and I love to run since I enjoy races and eating, but lifting is the key to physique.

In. I'm training for my first as well and this inquiring mind wants to know...

Thank you! In the "Agile" pic, I was playing Trampoline Dodgeball. It's tons on fun!!!

Thanks, buttercup! It's friends like you that helped make this happen. You rock like granite!

In this case, it may just be their character or showmanship.

 Oh crap! You're right! I relinquish my membership.

Of course with any professional sport, no John or Jane Doe can walk off the street to participate. But there is a progression if you favor fighting, and UFC originated with the fight club approach and held circuits that you could enter to ultimately end up in a televised event. The NFL has no such opportunities. This…

OP, this could also be an outlet for people who enjoy the art of fighting. UFC is essentially a sanctioned fight club. The desire to practice your technique against an equal opponent and wanting to beat the crap out of someone in a bar fight are two different personalities. Giving your all for (3) five minute rounds of…

I agree with this. If it's in your nature to pick a fight, then you're going to fight. However, most schools teach avoidance. I've fought a lot when I was young, but my maturity grew along with my martial arts training. Not only will you learn to strike efficiently, but also have better restraint, control, and use the…

LOL! Right!?!? However, I do appreciate good sarcasm, and I found some of them entertaining. Ryan, I like being over-prepared. The first time I ran the HM distance, I crippled myself days after. Lessoned learn and NOT happening again! Jamie, you rock like granite! That challenge was torture! But I'm not sure if I would…

Thanks, Norma! :flowerforyou: When I started, it was initially for a 5K. I didn't think I would grow to enjoy it. Races keep it fresh and I have them planned throughout next year.

I was under the impression that recomping is the breakdown of fat to fuel the muscle gains, hence the term recomposition - reorganizing/rearranging. However, I didn't want to squabble over semantics. I just want to show folks there are cases of obtaining some muscle gains without eating a surplus.

I didn't have this much muscle before, therefore, I'd classify it as a recomp
-
TLDR <--- Example of recomp. I started on a 1lb weekly deficit and recently shifted to 0.5lb weekly deficit. It can be done, but takes a lot of work and heavy lifting.

Jesse, you are truly an inspiration and so happy you're my friend! That supergirl outfit is all you!!! Rock on, sista!!

Use MFP for your nutrition and food accountability. Use P90X for exercise. You'll do fine.
-
This pretty much covers it. The nutrition program was clunky for me. Just use MFP and get the protein and carbs you need to fuel your workouts. I also prefer weights over bands if possible. I did use bands only when I traveled and there weren't free weights available. Try to do the real-deal pull-up. As many as you can…

OP, I think it's commendable that you want to do this for your friend. I root for you and want you to accomplish this. I don't really participate in the runner forums, but I do lurk there and I love running. I've been running (sort of) for 2 years; nothing measured, but just something to break the monotony of my exercises.…

Oh, Julsie. I'm feeling pretty crippled now :frown: Nothing 1-2 days won't fix  Here's the flip-side to this wager: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1258333-my-mfp-friend-that-motivates-me-pic
