  • I think for me, the trick has been exercise. Exercise = more food = happier me = sticking to the diet. Is there any exercise you like? It's hard, you need to make the choice though, more food, or no exercise.. I'm not a big fan of walking, but with my headphones on it's so much better :) I also play squash a lot now with…
  • Just me and my boyfriend here and I seem to spend a lot! £70 a week from me, £50 from him.. I am healthy eating though which tends to cost a lot more, and more high quality meat, fish etc. I'm sure I could do it cheaper, but I'm not unhappy with the food I eat and I have a large choice of nice food, so I'm just going with…
  • I sometimes drop a pound or two a few days after a high than normal day! I think your body will have appreciated the food. Trick is, to stop it at day 1, and not carry on the week eating the same :)
  • I had mine out 5 yrs ago, and in the last two months I've started taking the digestive enzymes with ox bile at most meals, I feel that's its helped me, I still have issues with IBS type symptoms with my stools, but otherwise I feel better. I've also been taking a lot of vitamin tablets.. Omega 3, b12, garlic, d3,…
  • I track as I find it motivates me to keep working, plus I find it interesting to see. I set my goal to 1lb a week tho, maybe do that and don't track exercise? It'll prob even out if you do 3-5 sessions a week.
  • When I started exercising heavily I stopped losing weight for 2 weeks, I was a bit gutted but stuck with it as I felt better in my clothes and mentally I felt amazing.. Increased energy and a new found excitement for life! Lost 3lbs this week, so it's defo worthwhile sticking with it. I concluded it was water weight from…
  • Portion control and snacking were way out of line for me before MFP tracking. Exercise = More food! Exercise doesn't burn as much as I presumed it would! Even fruit is high in carbs/sugar and calories.. choose the lower ones like Strawberries. I didn't die of starvation like I thought I would on a "diet". I don't feel…
  • I too used to feel a failure if I didn't meet the 2lbs per week target.. I've set to lose 1lb per week and that is a manageable goal for me and takes the pressure off each day, anything more is a bonus! :) (I have 90lbs to lose though). A lot of people are far too hard on themselves, myself included, and all that ends up…
  • I get this if I eat mainly carbs, similar to hypoglycemia but I've never been diagnosed with it. Since switching to 1 small piece of wholemeal bread and 2 eggs for breakfast, I don't get it at all. Basically, I don't eat too many carbs anymore, just an average amount and it's helped loads. If I ate cereal for breakfast I'd…
  • I'm trying for 100lbs this year too, feel free to add me anyone!
  • 100g pasta is 357 calories on my estimation, that's dry weight, before cooking..
  • It's just a number... Try to just pick one and measure improvements from there. If the new scale was 18lbs lighter than the old one, would your pants be looser on you? No, so just use it as a measure.
  • I take a tablet with each meal called; Nutrigest - Broad spectrum pancreatic enzymes with HCI & Ox Bile. This gives me some bile to digest my food with. I've found that I can eat nearly anything I want, but coffee and dairy gets me running to the toilet. Everyone is different though, so you just need to see what works for…
  • I love easjer's reply, it just what I need to hear too. I'm in the same position as you and after adding more exercise, my weight loss has stopped! I was frustrated yesterday and ate over my allowance, but this morning I'm kicking myself because how is that going to help me? Anyhow, I'm going to carry on and maybe not…
  • Great! Thanks for the info! I've got Body fat readings for Jan and Feb, so I guess I'll have to use that as my scale? Maybe that would be better. I'll have a look at some lifting stuff tonight on youtube and get a routine together. Thanks for the info SezxyStef
  • Greymane98, Thanks for the comments, but a quick look at my diary and you will see that I measure every last gram of all food I eat and I use a HRM to log all exercise, seems a little unfair of you to comment in such a dismissive way. My intake is 100% honest, it would be a bit stupid of me not to log everything really.…
  • Thanks for the reply cwolfman13, that makes a lot of sense. Typically I was netting 1400 a day, which I think must be too low? So I'm aiming for a net goal of 1650 now, and see how I go.. then try and up it again in a week or so? Not sure if I'm doing it right, I feel like I'm eating a lot, but then I'm burning a lot more…
  • Maybe I'm just expecting too much then? I've reset my goal to 1.5lbs a week, which gives me some more calories now. I'll just have to suck it up and be patient! Thanks for all the help x
  • Ok that's a good point! Thanks for the calculations! I started 7 weeks ago, so today I should have lost 12lbs, but I had lost 11, then 1 up today on weigh in day. So 7 weeks and 10lbs. I want to lose 2lbs a week on average.
  • That sounds good yes, just seems so many calories! I'll have no problem eating them though, just feels wrong! I guess the scales will let me know either way :)
  • Thanks everyone! I'm going to gradually increase my calories to the 2000 mark then.. Those who are doing MFP plus calories burned, why activity level are you set at? I do like tracking my calories burned, but I'm set at sedentary 1400 calories, so I'm guessing you're not set at that? Eating more sounds great, I was ok for…
  • I also love it
  • BMR 2075 TDEE 3216 Calories to lose 2lbs is 2412. It seems like a lot of calories?
  • I did work it out, I'm just not confident I've got it right.
  • Thanks everyone! I noticed the sodium too, the funny thing is that I was struggling to eat even half my sodium allowance but since exercising I am eating more sodium rich foods, so I shall try and cut that back. I don't do any resistance training, so I will dig the weights out from under the bed. Protein, yes that should…
  • Added! Goals are to get back into my hobbies and get some new hobbies and friends :)
  • Yes. I lost 5.5 stones a few years back and felt amazing and never had anxiety at all. As I've re-gained that weight plus another stone I can get anxious easily now. I would keep focussed on your goals and eat good nutritious foods. That's one thing that has made a huge difference to me, I must have been missing a vitamin…
  • Okay great! Thanks for the tip! I had it set to the MFP standard but had a look around today and changed it to; 40% carbs, 30% fat, 30% protein, so maybe that will help?
  • I wear a Polar FT7 to monitor my calories burned through exercise. Snowboarding - MFP estimate 728, Heart rate actual burn 615. Squash - MFP estimate 939, Heart rate actual burn 356. I'm set on sedentary, as I work at a desk all day, then I eat my exercise calories . Good luck! I started at 269lbs and trying to lose 100lbs…
  • Brilliant! I completely agree, sometimes I feel obsessive, but I know it's just pure dedication to the task :)
