  • I'm a chocolate fiend and have found my happy place with very dark chocolate, 85-90%. I get the Lindt bars and a serving is a nice flat square which I can nibble on for a good 30 minutes or so, and I very very rarely go back for more. Fruity herbal teas can do the trick for me too. Although honestly, there's some stuff I…
  • They are bad for my wallet. My cheapish source dried up recently :(
  • I set up a 'walking desk' (a piece of wood) on my treadmill so time I used to spend sitting on my butt playing video games and working has turned into walking time. For other exercise it's audiobooks all the way! Otherwise I get too busy fiddling around with my music, trying to find the 'perfect song.'
  • Well, this morning I had cottage cheese and strawberries, but that's not a help if you're trying to limit dairy. Yesterday was avocado toast with two hard boiled eggs.
  • We still have "sometimes foods" and processed snacks in the house as well as whole foods and homemade treats. If I want to eat some "kid food" (like Goldfish crackers, mmm) I just weigh and log, and mom-guilt keeps me from eating things like the special chocolate my mom sent the kids for Easter. Ditto my husband's snacks,…
  • Northern BC for me!
  • I eat chocolate every day and could not live without it. That gift sounds heavenly, enjoy it! If you're worried about losing control and scarfing the whole thing, make sure to just take one bit at a time, weigh before you eat, and store it somewhere out of sight.

  • Weighing everything and moving away from the idea of 'forbidden foods.' There's some things I don't eat nearly as often as I used to because the calories just aren't worth it for me currently but if I really want something I make it work.
  • I looooove cottage cheese! Besides fruit I also mix some with a can of V8 juice, sriracha, and lots of pepper to make a soup. Recently I also added a serving to my portion of lentil pasta sauce and spaghetti squash, along with some spinach, and it tasted like lasagne, mmm.
  • I'm 5'4", 31, currently 134 and started at 162 a year ago. My net calories are 1320 but my daily total is more like 1600-2000 depending on activity (and if I decide to go over/have a 'maintenance day'). I lose .5-1lb/week. My plan of attack has been slow and steady. I've enjoyed myself on trips and holidays, eat at…
  • I occasionally mix it in with my oatmeal. I also made these earlier today and they're really tasty! http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/chocolate-chip-cookie-dough-protein-bars.html
  • I had knee surgery a couple of months ago (meniscus repair) and another coming up soon (ACL reconstruction). For the first couple of weeks I didn't track but tried to eat nutrient-dense foods and lots of protein to assist with healing. When I did start tracking I set myself at sedentary and maintenance calories and found I…
  • Most days I have a giant salad or stir fry. Tons of veggies and I can vary the extras depending on how much activity I've gotten. Today's salad is a deluxe edition because I have more calories to work with - spinach, cucumber, tomato, guacamole, red onion, corn, salsa, pickled jalapeño slices, plain yogurt, baked tilapia,…
  • Leftover lentil pasta sauce (on spaghetti squash for me, pasta for everyone else) with side salads. I made this recipe for the first time last night and it was so good! The recipe says it makes 2-3 servings but for us it's more like 4-5. http://minimalistbaker.com/spicy-red-pasta-with-lentils/
  • My mom sent me chocolates from a local place that I can't get here. They're my favourite and they are so not making it to Easter. Mmmmmm <3
  • Yeah, I need to stop drinking an hour before bed or I'm up at least twice... I go for the budgeting calories route as well and have popcorn most nights!
  • I like cottage cheese with either fruit or a can of V8, pepper, and hot sauce to make a cold soup!
  • I'm also a big fan of Budget Bytes, and this free cookbook: http://www.leannebrown.com/
  • I haven't tried a ton of protein bars but the only one I've really enjoyed is the Quest cookie dough one. Sadly my (relatively) inexpensive source for them has dried up so searching for an alternative!
  • I've been tracking off and on (mostly on, I just don't track when I'm out of town) for 11 months now and my diet has evolved without me really realizing it. If you'd told me a year ago I'd be eating a big plate of roasted Brussels sprouts and salmon for breakfast I'm not sure I would have believed you! My 'ta da' moment…
  • This was me too and me now :) I wasn't successful until I stopped trying to cut stuff out of my diet. I've abandoned some of my old favourites along the way but just because they're not worth the calories to me right now, not because they're 'bad.'
  • I get my calories burned from my Fitbit and eat almost all of them. Otherwise my daily calorie goal would be 1300-something to lose .5lbs/week and that is absolutely not sustainable for me. I've been losing at 1600-2000 depending on daily activity. Yay food!
  • The vast majority of nights I cook the same kinds of things I always have and tailor my own plate to suit my caloric needs. For example, tonight was taco night and I had a nice big taco salad with the shell crumbled on top.
  • Costco, Superstore, a local butcher/deli, and the farmer's market in the summer. I'm in central BC :)
  • I also used to work at a pizza place and we were allowed to make ourselves a personal pizza each shift. Mine would have white sauce instead of tomato sauce, pepperoni, sausage, anchovies, black olives, feta cheese, and extra mozzarella. And a ranch dip on the side, of course. It would come out of the oven absolutely…
  • I've noticed some other Canadian food sites that just have a spreadsheet while their US counterparts have an actual calculator, it can be so annoying! I figured out the calorie count for my Domino's pizza once and it was such a pain in the butt. At least some sites let you use the US nutrition calculator to get some kind…
  • I'm 5'4" and 133 and no luck so far, but my body seems determined to shed fat from everywhere else before it goes for the stomach (nice lean armpits, anyone?!)...

  • That's still excellent progress, and now you know :)
  • That looks like the nutrition info for one slice, and an XL has 10 slices.
  • Leftovers! Yesterday I had leftover baked potato topped with thawed frozen spinach, salsa, plain yogurt, guacamole, hot sauce, and some leftover ham on the side. The longest part of the prep was thawing the spinach in the microwave.
