  • I know it's been awhile since you posted this, so apologies for my "late" question. If I take my carbs to 20% and my protein to 45-50%, that means 30-35% is fat. Is this a safe ratio? Will I lose weight doing this? It seems so backwards.
  • Some of my faves: Vietnamese banh canh Sizzling rice soup Chicken vegetable tortilla soup with avocado Butternut squash or pumpkin soup - easy to make in the blender or food processor Black bean soup
  • Wow! Nice going. You stuck with it and were totally successful. How proud you must feel! PS - Your dog is beautiful!
  • Lots of yoga and ballet. Plus lose weight, i.e., eat healthy whole foods, drink water and tea and consume fewer calories than you burn.
  • Until they make one that can measure sitting vs. standing, I'm holding off. I have standing desks at work and home, and as yet, none of them can measure the difference. That said, if I did get one -- with all the research I've done -- I'd probably get a Fitbit One. It seems to be the most stable over a fair amount of time,…
  • I wonder. Did everyone get their hoops? If not, how about a RAINBOW hula hoop as a special Valentine's Day gift to yourself? http://www.amazon.com/Weighted-Sports-Hula-Hoop-Weight/dp/B00309XR44/ref=pd_sbs_sg_1  :flowerforyou:   :grumble: :frown: :embarassed:
  • I've never done TRX, but on your recommendation, I googled and youtubed it and found some workouts to try. Look like I need to order another piece of equipment...here I come Amazon.com! :blushing: TRX Workouts: http://mytrxworkouts.net/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h945QKQxTfc…
  • Good one! I'm going to try it out tomorrow morning. Thanks for sharing!
  • Glad everyone's enjoying the workout ideas. I hope you'll post yours, too, because I'd like to try some new workouts. The floor is yours, so to speak. :flowerforyou:
  • Hi, Everyone. I'm Guin (yes, it's short for Guinevere...thanks, Dad). My husband and I live in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We've changed our lives a lot, particularly health-wise, in the past two years. I've suffered with low back pain for the past five or so years, and just recently have found some relief by adding 20 minutes…
  • Married but no kids. We live in Santa Fe, NM, one of the most amazing places for outdoor activities -- challenging to say the least at 7500 feet above sea level (that's about a mile and a half!). My husband and I nearly died the first time we played tennis here, and that was for about 15 minutes. 10 years later and we can…
  • All-Purpose Flour: Authentic Foods Multi-Blend Flour Pancake Mix: N/A Noodles/Pasta: DeLallo (I adore the Fusilli and Penne -- best GF pasta I've ever tried and I've tried them all) Pizza Crust: Home made Cookies: I'm pretty much sugar-free and low-fat, so no cookies for me Pie Crust: Wholly Wholesome…
  • Right there with ya. I managed to put on about 10 pounds back in October and can't seem to shake them, so I'm looking for motivation, inspiration, and like you, pals. I've been eating fairly clean -- I could totally do better though -- and I have a cheat meal here and there, but those cheat meals seem to be coming up more…
  • @jillybeansatlanta So true about quiet being great at getting you fitter faster. It almost always means you have to go really slowly, especially when adapting plyometric exercises. @sunseeker100 I'm with you -- no running or jumping for me...not at home anyway. I'm all about yoga, barre, pilates and stationary cycling.…
  • There's this bright teal green J. Crew pencil skirt in my closet...getting back into that skirt will make me smile for sure. That and just the feeling of accomplishment. __________________________________ Join the Condo and Apartment-Dwellers' group:…
  • Occasionally half-and-half, occasionally (I hate to even admit this -- please forgive me) non-fat non-dairy creamer, but most often I just drink it black. __________________________________ Join the Condo and Apartment-Dwellers' group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/19640-condo-apartment-dwellers-unite
  • Most "vegetable" oil is soybean mixed with whatever. Canola's not so great either. Both are typically cheap and often synthetic. EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) and coconut oil are better, healthwise, plus neither scorches during cooking like vegetable and canola oils are prone to. __________________________________ Join the…
  • This is me all over! I do a 20-minute yoga workout almost every weekday morning and 40-60 minutes on weekend days. It makes my day (and frankly my life, too!) SO much better. __________________________________ Join the Condo and Apartment-Dwellers' group:…
  • Funny you should ask. I just started a group focused on home workouts. It's specifically for condo and apartment-dwellers, but all comers are welcome and the worksouts we're discussing will work in any home  http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/19640-condo-apartment-dwellers-unite
  • I'm in! I'm in! I'm in! Count me in. __________________________________ Join the Condo and Apartment-Dwellers' group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/19640-condo-apartment-dwellers-unite
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one. I look forward to hearing what others suggest, too! __________________________________ Join the Condo and Apartment-Dwellers' group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/19640-condo-apartment-dwellers-unite
  • Great to have you here! Thanks for posting. Is the Jillian Michaels workout you do available online? If so, please share the link when possible. Agree let's definitely have some fun! All over it, chevyimpalagirl. I do lots of yoga, plus there's a great app called SworkIt (http://sworkit.com/). I use the Android…
  • Keep logging food daily and measuring/weighing twice a month. Those gauges are so important and key to maintaining, for me anyway. __________________________________ Join the Condo and Apartment-Dwellers' group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/19640-condo-apartment-dwellers-unite
  • I probably average about that in NET calories. Feel free to take a look at my food diary. I eat a lot, including snacks and dining out a couple of times a week. I also work out 5-6 days a week to help keep the metabolism higher. I have found that over the past 3-4 months my weight hasn't budged very much. A little…
  • I was a 4-6 pints-per-week drinker for years (and mind you, those were Imperial pints, mostly), and I've basically given up alcohol. That helped immensely with the weight loss I must say. I thought it would be really hard because I LOVED beer, but personally, it wasn't that hard at all. I definitely miss drinking way less…
  • Plateaus are real, and they suck. I've been there -- in fact, I've hit a plateau recently and have had a really tough time staying motivated. That said, you can do something about it. First and foremost, make sure you're logging your food and that you're completely honest about what you're eating (no fudging!). Take a look…
  • Log your calories manually. You can figure calories burned using one of these calculators: http://www.dietandfitnesstoday.com/calories-burned-by.php?search=ballet http://www.glamour.com/health-fitness/activity/calculators/ballet http://www.fitday.com/webfit/burned/calories_burned.html
  • Exactly right. Which means a slice (cauliflower crust & cheese) is 66 calories if you cut the pizza up into (6) equal slices. If you add more toppings, then your calorie count goes up accordingly.
  • Yes...thank you. I echo your echo.
  • Believe it or not, there are actually some women out there who don't want to pump up, or even have visible musculature...and that's okay. You can still be fit, conditioned, in-shape, toned, et al, without getting ripped. It has to do with personal preference -- and also diet to a large degree and genetics to some degree --…
