  • Thanks for your input. I appreciate it. What you say makes a lot of sense. Just to correct you though, I don't try to stick to 20g, what I meant was that I tend to EXCEED my limit by 20g. Usually, it is because of fruit (low GI fruit), however, it's not unusual to be from sucrose sometimes too if I'm caught out :D I think…
  • Yeah I tend to stay clear of sucrose if I can, due to the insulin spike (unless pre or post workout - due to it's beneficial properties; I bodybuild). I'd be interested to know how detrimental this is to me and my bodyweight.
  • When I body built, my BMI told me I was morbidly obese and needed to go to a doctor....when I was in the best shape of my life. It's inaccurate and doesn't take into account loads of factors, obviously, in my case it was extreme, but I'd take it with a pinch of salt.
  • CLA is worthless unless you take mass quantities and it's not an EFA. It is not practical to take the amount of CLA that you need to make it benefical neither is it pocket friendly. Stick with your fish oil and get some flax seeds (2Tbls a day) and or flax oil (1Tbls a day) and Olive Oil (.5 - 1 Tbls a day)
  • The fact is, at least in my case, MFP can be as beneficial as it is detrimental. Sometimes, I'm so concious of how much I'm eating and taking log of that I binge out, because a) I'm either hungry from under eating or b) think I'm somehow entitled to it due to the fact I have some calories left, and then it somehow spirals…
  • Clues in the title. If you do 500 calories worth of cardio, then you are entitled to an extra 500 calories. That's the idea. Whether it works or not is up to you.
  • It's fine.
  • Water. I shift, daily, from around 67kg to 73kg. It's not unusual for me to step in the gym at 73, shower, sauna and hit the scales before being below 70 again. Rinse and repeat.
  • OP clearly isn't referring to these issues.
  • Lets keep this simple folks. No.
  • Casein and Whey are all well and good, but how will they actually AID your weight loss? Unless you are using them as some kind of meal substitute? Otherwise, I'm confused. I actually rep for Optimum Nutrition, and rate their products highly, but use these more for muscle repair and development as opposed to weight loss?…
  • Like posted. It does nothing. As a personal trainer, the guidelines are constantly changing. One minute we're supposed to encourage it, the next, we aren't. It can even cause injury (mainly ballistic stretching). Oh, and also, trained 6 years - rarely ever stretched. My posture is fine and muscle knots are minimal.

  • Next time pop a few laxatives in there.
  • Fructose pushes me over my alloted limit, daily. I don't get caught up in it too much providing, as above, it's not from sweets, etc.
  • Detrimental or not, I've always functioned fine on just 3 hours sleep. I don't get my head down until around 2am, and am up at 5am to hit the gym for 6am. I've done this for roughly 5 years, through bulking cycles, cutting cycles, work, the lot. Never had an issue. It'll hit me sooner or later, I'm sure.
  • I love the people who go into the sauna to lose fat. I heard one guy saying 'It's the only way I'm going to get slim'. Brilliant.
  • You cannot spot train areas to lose weight, only work the muscle group in question. General cardio would be the best bet in conjunction with ab training.
  • ....no....they're not. Sugary, yes. Fatty, no. And the whole eating carbs and fat before you sleep thing, well...read some articles on that too.
  • I was under the impression that the OP is guessing, not stating. And yeah...bananas....really?
  • Carbohydrates aren't your enemy, just learn how to utilise and manage them.
  • I'm 22, male. 5ft 6 inches. Weighing in at 150lbs (68kg). Tops are usually medium (UK). Trouser waist varies around the 30" mark, depending on the brand. Shoe size is 7.5 (UK).
  • *Brother ;P
  • This is RIDICULOUS. They're probably thin for a very good reason. Heck, I bet some of you would wear the tighter variety of gym gear if you had a new found body to be proud of. Isn't that the goal for most people here? To lose weight and feel good about themselves? Why not just be proud of what other people have achieved…
  • Oh god....the caps....my eyes!
  • People's opinions will always differ, I think people will have their say regardless. The most you can do is keep your chin up and move forward. I always do what I think is right and what works for ME.
  • Just got to worth through it. Hit the sweeteners if you have too. Sure, not the best choice, but a better alternative. Perhaps eat high sugar fruit instead? Mango perhaps?
  • Ah, popping down to the chippy for saveloy and chips. Nom nom nom.

  • I would easily be hitting 300-400g protein, daily, for the last 6 years (until recently). As a body builder it was extremely important. What happened that was detrimental? Nothing. I just went to the toilet a lot more. I've heard it all, kidney damage, turns to fat, etc. Rubbish.
  • Pizza is the bane of my life.
  • I used to do 6, 12 hour night shifts. I'd get my *kitten* down the gym before a night shift (before 7pm) and if I was up to it, I'd hit it again at 7am after. Rinse and repeat. If you want something enough, nothing will stop you.
