Who needs to stretch when you have aspirin!

Oh Lordy, I'm so sorry I didn't stretch before and after working out. My calves and shins are on fire!

i dont ever stretch at all..never had a problem.

stretching doesnt cure the soreness. and really doesnt prevent injury to stretch before. actually it really does nothing..

stretching can be good for you depending on your body! i need to strech my achilles tendons so they don't get too short as I have a bit of a foot problem, and it will only get worse if I don't strech my achilles. so saying that stretching does nothing isn't true.. but it is true that it won't cure soreness.

Stretching has no effect on DOMS at all, as one of the previous posters said, either does Aspirin.

That's not stretching, that's flexibility training. They're completely different things.

Stretching has no effect on the likelihood of injury or DOMS, and should not be done before or after exercise.

Flexibility training reduces the likelihood of injury, but should not be done before or after exercise, it should be done as ongoing training, and each stretch needs to be held for at least 35s.

Like posted. It does nothing. As a personal trainer, the guidelines are constantly changing. One minute we're supposed to encourage it, the next, we aren't. It can even cause injury (mainly ballistic stretching).

Oh, and also, trained 6 years - rarely ever stretched. My posture is fine and muscle knots are minimal.
