What about counting bites? Bites of food are an average of 25 cals a bite. If you allow yourself around 20 bites total, you are look at around 500 cals.

I have a surge and I like the text & phone alerts. I also like the heart rate function for information purposes. Counting steps/walking has been the best for increasing my TDEE vs trying to calculate exercise. I don't add exercise to my diary....just go by fitbit calorie adjustments and it works well for me. If I was a…

FWIW, I think you are doing too much cardio.

Have you considered 5:2 diet? Eat at maintenance for 5 days and cut to 500 calls on 2 days? Maybe even make the 2 days cal days rest days? I would even consider an IF window (16:8) and eating TDEE calories without exercise factored in (and don't eat exercise calories back).

I drank lots of water and after 4 months (to establish the breastfeeding relationship first), I cut total calories to 1800. I was walking a lot but did not do any other exercise. I lost 15 pounds in about 5 months and got to 126 (5'5") which is about 10 pounds under what I was before pregnancy. Then I slacked a bit and ate…

I personally chose stella artois at 154 cals per 11.2 oz because it has a higher alcohol count at 5.2 %...taste is good and it isn't as high in calories as an ipa but isn't a "light" beer either.

I have always been able to lose weight and still drink alcohol. I could drink a couple drinks a day before it made a difference in my weight loss. Now I tend to save it for the weekend when I eat maintenance or above...just to be sure I am getting sufficient nutrients when I am cutting. FWIW, my weight loss was vanity…

Hi, I tried losing after the initial loss after birth (I lost like 15-20 the first week out). I tried to cut back the first 4 months and the weight wouldn't come off at all. Then at 4 months I started counting calories to 1800 total and the weight fell off (I lost the last 10 plus 10). Then when she started solids it has…

I lost the rest of my pregnancy weight plus ten more around the 4 month mark by counting calories to 1800 give or take (I walked an hour a day). I think I may have burned around 600 for nursing until she started solids around 7 months or so. I never saw a dip in my supply and she nursed on demand. I stopped losing and the…

I picked the lower end of my BMI range (medium frame) to stop. Which is 5'5" and 125 pounds. I wanted to go lower but I think that it may not look that great on me to go lower, especially at my age (37).

Hi, I have read some portion control literature that estimates the amt of food related to your palm. (3oz of steak is the size of your palm) For instance: http://healthyshasta.org/downloads/eathealthy/ServingSizeInHand.pdf. For a night out I usual record what I eat but estimate it. Obviously you can't weigh anything. If it…

I usually eat at a 500 cal deficit on Monday and Tuesday....maybe a few hundred on Wednesday to make up for the weekend. I still record so I know how much I went over (ballpark usually) and keep an eye on the scale. After the weekend I go up a couple of pounds but by Thursday, I am back to my weight and sometimes below. I…

I have realized that the only way to maintain or lose without calorie counting is to either restrict a particular food group or limit portion size and not snack. The problem is that the only real reason I don't want to calorie count is that I want to just eat without thinking about what I am eating and when. It also…

I have done all kinds of yoga for many years. But... I have never been into yoga for the "meditation" and have been mostly interested in flows and hot yoga. I actually enjoy the JM yoga meltdowns.I have found they have really helped with strength too. I alternate them with the shred videos for variety and a quick workout…

I tend to lose weight more consistently when I drink beer/wine and I am within a healthy weight range. I just make sure to keep it within my calorie allowance. Beer especially for some reason....

Hi, I am glad your supply issue has resolved! I wanted to share for anecdotal purposes that I have dropped calories to around 1800...sometimes more, sometimes less. I am now almost 10 pounds below pre-pregnancy and I was thin then...I have lost about 1-2 pounds a week and I will bump up calories for a few days here and…
