Checked out your food diary - it looks really healthy. I saw broccoli was 81 calories for 237g. Save me. You've done a great job avoiding junk-food throughout Ramadan, so that should really pay off with weight loss. What's your goal during Ramadan for weight loss?

Came home. My diet is pretty much out the window while I'm here - I'm going to keep at <2000 calories a day while I'm home with my parents. For completeness sake: 5/24 - Arby's lamb gyro with french fries & coke (1200 calories, I guess), rice, chicken, vegetable, some kinda bean stew (700 calories) - 1900 calories

@HappyKat5 - thanks! We don't drink anything from sunrise till sunset either. Traditionally, people break their fast with a date (the fruit), then offer their sunset-prayers, then they eat a meal called iftar which is mostly finger foods, then the evening prayers, then eat a proper dinner. Then they'll wake up to eat…

Iftar 5/22 - steamed broccoli & some spinach, rice (500 cal), 1 chicken drumstick cooked in yogurt (200cal), 3 slices of little caesar's cheese pizza (750), 3 tbsp of sugar (200) --> 1700 calories or thereabouts today. I have been craving pizza for several days now so it was so nice to eat it today. I might have a slice or…

Thanks @HappyKat5 - it's a long grueling month for sure! The whole point is to be able to empathize with poor people and open yourself to charity. and it works - we have a short time to eat so it's hard to eat enough so you definitely learn what it's like to be hungry. Iftar 5/21 - bean/vegetable with spinach purée and…

I had a second meal tonight because I don't want to feel faint tomorrow. It was rice with other things that have already been accounted for (the chicken drumstick & the yogurt-cucumber-mix). Total calories today --> about 1600 calories. I am sleepy, but I don't feel faint. I haven't drunk enough water today.

Iftar 5/19 - 1 flat bread (110 cal), 1 egg (100 cal), 1 breaded chicken thigh (200 cal), 1 bowl of bean/vegetable purée (100 cal), 2 spoons of sugar (150 cal). Total --> 700-800calories I didn't eat enough yesterday & I suffered today. I felt faint the whole walk back from the grocery store - it's 20min there & 20min back.…

Iftar 5/18 - 2 pieces of flat bread (220 calories), 2 eggs (200 calories), bean/vegetable purée (100), yogurt-sugar drink (400 calories), breaded chicken leg (300) --> 1300calories today.

Day3 of Ramadan - I made a pot of bean/veg stew on 5/16 & I've been working through it. The stew: was 1lb of black beans with whatever veg I had in the fridge - some mustard greens, half an eggplant, 1.5onions, 1/2 box of cut-up mushrooms, a little bit of zucchini and yellow squash and a sliver of bell-pepper, and 5-6…

Hi there! I'll be your buddy - what're your plans??

Salam! Ramadan Kareem! I always lose weight during Ramadan. Here's why: my goal every day is to get 9 servings of vegetable. It's really hard to fit anything into your stomach in the 3-4hrs we get to eat after finishing 9 servings of broccoli/collard greens/Spinach/vegetables. Also, your jaw gets really tired from chewing…

Hey Brian - I have found a walk really takes your mind off food . If you have to wat cucumber slices sound good
-
I am with you! Trying to walk everyday - ideally to work & back. It's consistent & easy to stay in shape!
-
I'll be doing IF with you guys during Ramadan - I'm gonna have 3hrs to eat everyday & the rest of the time is fasting (religious purpose - 14hrs) & sleeping (left over). Today was Day1 - I ate less than 1000calories because it was mostly vegetable/bean-based. It is too low bc I don't want to lose a ton of weight & look…

I'm 33 & gained weight this year. I've always been that really healthy person who hikes/climbs. Then I started using the car as my main mode of transport last year & now I've gained 10lbs in a year. What a nightmare. So it's time to get back on the regular fit lifestyle, put my car away to rest, & break out my bicycle/walk…

Hey buddy! Annalee is right but if you're looking for someone to stay accountable to, I've got a little time off this month & I could use a partner for my month of intermittent-fasting. I'm trying to lose about 10lbs to just get back into my clothes comfortably.
-
Hey! Me & a billion other people around the world are on this band-wagon with you for the month, my friend! It's Ramadan - the month of fasting for Muslims. We won't eat from sunrise to sunset everyday (which for me is from about 5AM-9PM). It's starting May 15 & going through till June 13. I'm aiming for about a 8lb weight…

I'd love to join too! I'll take Hufflepuff or Slytherin - whichever is still open :) About me: 5'7.5 - 134.6lbs today and hoping to get to 127lbs as my GW.
-
Salam everyone! I'll join in as well. I'm 5'7.5, female. I weighed myself on 6/30/14 - 140.6 Weight as of 7/23/14 - 134.6 So far a 6lb weight loss with another 4 days to go. It's just about on the verge of being a little too fast to be maintainable, but it's still nice to see the pounds go down :) My final GW is 127lbs and…

Forced myself to get out of bed to go eat a bowl of lentil soup, peas, an egg, a handful of spinach, and a meatball. This midnight eating is awkward, but only 11 days of ramadan left.

Yes to dessert every night. A few bites of sundae, a Lindt chocolate ball or 2, one of those snackable pudding-cups. And a whole orange after 'cus who doesn't love an orange :)

Over the course of 1 month (February 2014), I went from being able to jog for 45seconds at a time at 4.5mph to being able to jog for 6min at 6.5mph. It doesn't sound like a lot, but I was so proud because it took a lot of effort to get there. I ran/walked at least 5days a week for nearly the whole month. What I did - kept…

I'm late to join, but I'll throw my #s in here as well. My goal for the year was to get in 2miles everyday at a minimum. Between walking the dog, and walking back and forth to work, I get 4.5miles every weekday. On the weekends, I try my best to meet my 2mile goal. Haven't been keeping track of every day, but my routine…

I'm 5'7.5, 29yrs old, and currently 136lbs. I got on the scale once in front of my friends and everyone thought I'd be 10lbs lighter. I'm big-boned with big shoulders and play them up so the rest of me looks narrow in comparison. It's wonderful the things you can do with clothes if you dress right. I'd be happier at 130lbs…

There's a few medical problems that can cause excessive thirst. If patient has no underlying physical problems, it can be psychogenic polydipsia (typically effects psychiatric-patients). Diabetes insipidus, or diabetes mellitus both present with polydipsia (wanting to drink too much water). Are you wanting to get up in the…

I'm a fan of not counting. I'm also planning to lose only 10-12lbs and do it in 6months, so I'm not in any pressure to watch every single thing that goes into my mouth as long as its reasonable. Essentially, my big diet change has been to cut the amount of rice I eat to half. I've lost 4lbs in about 5 weeks, which is a…

I don't log and most of the time, I don't buy junk food. But once in a while, I'll let myself have a king-size kitkat bar or something & not feel too bad about it. So maybe once every few weeks is a "cheat" day, meaning I eat processed candy or something similar?
-
I did! It was some idiot politician :) But I don't remember who. Replying to OP: I'm 5'7.5, 137lbs, & calves are 13". Calves are fine, but my bingo wings are the real chunky part of me.

Most people's bodies have a set weight & like a thermostat maintains temperature, your body tries to keep you within 15% of that weight. So your body could've just decided that 10-12kilos heavier is where you need to be to keep you healthy and you might not be able to diet down to a smaller size.
-
well, your body has enough fat on it that you can go up to a month without eating and still live. If you can find a month where all you have to do is lay in bed and do nothing, then it's ok. I wouldn't do this though - you'll be so sad all the time. Just take health as a long-haul goal and work towards it slowly.
