  • I too am trying to "start over". I am in my second year of a new lifestyle of working outside the home with 4 children VERY involved in extracurricular activities that's taken over what little time I had had for exercising. I'm hoping this time I will have more determination to keep it going once the school year begins…
  • I was disappointed that the scale didn't move, so against my better judgement, I broke out the tape measure,,,,,I lost 2 inches on my hips. (I will eventually, I hope, stop "needing" the scales opinion)
  • I use Runkeeper, it seems pretty spot on.
  • I too am VERY interested in this answer, as this is why I am browsing the forums. I get the disappointment part, it takes so much effort for me to "run" and the calorie burn does NOT represent that effort. bahahahhaa
  • my personal experience thus far: I started running on our high school track the beginning of July. Having never run before, I obviously didnt just start running my full distance right away. I have found that it doesnt matter how much distance I cover, what matters is the amount of effort used that changes the calories…
  • i'm in,,,after my run though
  • lmao,,,is this the new "headache" if you're already over your calories for the day?
  • hahahahahaaha youl are great!!!! I hope the original poster is lol'ing too
  • I have started running, I HATE IT, but I do it,,,makes me feel more accomplished. I run at a high school track which is much easier than the track at a local park that is concrete and has many ups and downs. I started (7/2) walking 2 - 2.5 miles monday through friday, then slowly adding in a jog (slow as in, the beginning…

  • I do not know all the technical specifics about the MFP calculations, but I understand that it is an estimate of average person. The equipment at the gym is much better than my home equip so when logging exercise from the gym I go by the machine. When exercising at home I use the MFP calculations. Unless you can invest in…
  • I am 5'4'' and I have 21 lbs to go, I have already lost 34 lbs. good luck and just keep chugging along no matter what obsticles you run into,,,,one bad choice does not have to lead to another!!
  • that would be funny,,,,talk about really having to "own it" today I will answer, steak and green beans.....some other days I cant say I'd want to admit what it would be
  • I have to take stool softeners EVERYDAY (straight colace - can be taken without consequence). You can take up to 3 per day (I've gotten it down to 2), but I have to make sure that I'm eating WELL. The better I eat, the less likely I also need a laxative. when taking fiber, you do need to increase your water to make it…
  • I have exercise and allergy induced asthma, I take several medications (2 allergy pills, 1- twice daily asthma inhaler, and my rescue inhaler immediately before exercise and as needed). exercise believe it or not is one of the best medicines for it, as it exercises the lungs....sometimes its worse than others, but its…
  • great job, you should be so proud of yourself, I feel as though I could hear your excitement in your words you posted :flowerforyou:
  • I do strength and cardio 6 days / week. pretty much with different goals and routines every 6 weeks or so, with goals eache workout (new weight, or higher resistance etc.) my day off changes, as i have a very hectic schedule with family....but I know the importance of that rest day
  • the internet is a wealth of information, I googled "strength training withou weights" and found a great site "pick the brain" with several body strength exercises that will build strength and muscle (i've understood from several people you dont actually "tone" you either build muscle or you dont) anyways, it even mentioned…
  • Definately can see a difference!!! and I agree, that smile is much more prominent and not painted on
  • FANTASTIC JOB!!! Keep up the good work, you know what the best part of those pics is? Your smile :flowerforyou:
  • as with anything its the toll it can have on your body in the future, I'm sure you can find stories of both extremes, those who have had great experiences and were lucky to not have any repercusions from it as they have aged, and those like my father in law who ran marathons and has had both knees replaced (one knee done…

  • I dont know what DHEA is so I'm sorry that I dont have any advice for you, the only other thing I can think of is getting in touch with Newfiedan, and TrainingWithTanya, here on MFP . They both have a great deal of knowledge (personal experience, and schooling) and perhaps they can take a peek at your diaries and can come…
  • thats a good one  I had a similar experience not too long ago on the eliptical, I was having a bad day and went to the gym and was going mad crazy on that darn thing, when my workout finished and I looked at the calorie burn,,,,, "666" ARE YOU KIDDING ME? haha and, my fortune cookie fortune a couple weeks ago…
  • your body in terms of food does not tell time, if you are going to eat late and then hit the hay, I would try and make sure that your meal or snack is something that will help fuel your resting burn since you will be in active for a long period of time after eating....its not about when, its about what,,,,,ALWAYS!!!!
  • OMG, my husband and I laugh every single day at "the chicken leggers"
  • you're doing great, just remember to keep making small goals and not focusing on the "big" picture. it helps alot :flowerforyou:
