Calories burned

I've just invested in a HRM as I know the readings the machines give you for calories burned are inaccurate as they don't take into consideration your weight and height. I used it for the first time today doing an hour of cardio (stairmaster, bike, rower and treadmill) The machines estimated I burned 430cals and my hrm read 143cals. I'm 5'2.5 and weigh 114lbs.. Does this sound accurate? I would much rather be realistic about how many cals I am burning but I am a bit disappointed as I thought I was burning way more haha

I too am VERY interested in this answer, as this is why I am browsing the forums. I get the disappointment part, it takes so much effort for me to "run" and the calorie burn does NOT represent that effort. bahahahhaa

That sounds pretty spot on to me. You are very tiny so you are not gonna burn a lot per hour. I do a 30minute cardio MMA workout and at 400lbs I only burn around 250 calories. So with as little as you weigh that number sounds fairly accurate.

Yep. That's the sad part about accurate logging. We like to dream big that we're burning millions of calories in an hour, but in reality - nope.

At your weight and an avg fitness level for your age, your calorie burn is likely in the 300-400 per hour range. It could be that your HRM is not set up properly, or that you are not getting good continuous contact with the chest strap.
