It was Hydrostatic weighing to determine the body fat percentage. About the "finding a balance thing." That's all well and good, and I understand that it's possible to take a gradual approach, but mostly I was trying to find whether or not I was thinking about maintaining wrong at a fundamental level. Looking at it now, I…

Hydrostatic Weighing in the Physiology Lab at a University close by. Yes, I do an hour of weight lifting every day, and my cardio is generally a mix of running (10 minute mile, pace) and elliptical so I don't destroy my knees. Yes, I weigh my food.

I guess I'm not really focused on what the percentage number is, but more on the fact that with reduction of cardio, the number went up. If I'd been 10% before, and I'd stayed that way, I'd be fine with the results, but I just worry that it's a backslide. 2,000 calories a day is too much, then? Everyone always talked about…

Don't suppose anyone has run into this, before? Or has any advice on different ways to approach this?

Slightly curious if anyone could help me with something related to this: When I was a kid I had hyperinsulinemia and when I met with doctors about it they told me I had a "thrifty genotype," and a slow metabolism. Is there a good way to gain an accurate measure of my basal metabolic rate? I worry about putting any faith in…

I'd love something like that to be true, but from what I've experienced over the past few months it doesn't hold up. Being able to eat 3,200 calories a day for maintenance would be amazing, but right now I'm doing 2,000 and fluctuating, so increasing it in any way feels terrifying.

Generally I don't post my picture on the internet, it can lead to some iffy situations and I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Indeed I am male. I mean, I don't know what to say about the 9.9% body fat. I went to the hydrostatic weighing, got tested for breathing, dunked in a tub, weighed multiple times, and got a whole official neat-oh paper telling me about the 9.9% calculation and result.

Age: 23 Height: 5'8" Current weight: 175 last weigh-in. Activity level: Not high, mostly desk with some walking around during the day for errands. My "job" for the past few years has been to lose weight.

5'8". Very closely. I keep my meals exactly the same week to week.

How trustworthy are HRMs? :D

When I was 428 pounds, probably. When I decided to lose weight, I kind of went all-in.

That's kind of the problem, I don't know what I'm trying to do anymore. If I could do more, I want to, but I guess I'm just looking for opinions, or for someone to actually say "No, you can't really do more." After two and a half years of focusing completely on weight loss, I guess I'm having a hard time actually…

Sorry to be a bother, but I really am having trouble with this. At 182 pounds and 9.9% body fat percentage, would it be fair to say that I'm "done" with weight loss? If I kept trying and continued with my 3+ hours of cardio, would it even be possible to lose more?

Yes, I do an hour or so of strength training a day. And 9.9% is indeed true. Got my little piece of paper and everything from the University with the calculations and such. I know it's a lot of calories left over, which is why it seemed so strange to have no change at all in body weight. Which is why I'm wondering if I'm…

Hydrostatic weighing is the best option, and generally isn't a big deal to get done either. Check your local university and see if they have a measurement system in their physiology lab. When I checked in with mine, it was 50 dollars and an hour to get it done. Super simple.
