I had problems sleeping initially but now that I’m fat adapted and my electrolytes are in order, I am sleeping much better. It took about 3 months for my body to get used to the changes.

I’ve been keto for two months and have kept the carbs under 30 total.

I'm not a very good cook, but I'm trying. Baked drumsticks and garlic collard greens

I owe this thread and its particpants a big thank you. Reading it gave me the idea to go to Five Guys and I ate a bunless lettuce wrapped little bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onions, mayo and ketchup. It was the best thing I've ate in five months, ha! Under 500 calories and 10 g of carbs.

Feel free to add me if you wish!

Last time I lost a significant amount of weight (about 80 lbs, not low carb), I lost a lot of hair as well. I think it's pretty normal with weight loss. Doctor told me to take biotin.

Great, thanks! That is what I was hoping to hear, because it seems weird to force yourself to eat if you aren't hungry. And I do have days where I'm hungry all day, so I'll just make sure I'm eating a bit more on those days to balance it out, as you both suggested.

Thanks for the advice, I'll make sure I check it out.

WLS can be effective for those who would literally die without it, but there can be a LOT of side effects after the surgery. You should only consider it as a last resort. And if you have to gain weight to get it, you should not be getting it.

On a regular LC day I ate broccoli, zucchini, yellow squash, spinach, lettuce, tomato and a few strawberries. My gut is doing just fine. And I've lost 60 lbs in 5 months.

I just want to get the weight off. I was diagnosed with hypertension before I started MFP and I want to lose weight to get off the blood pressure medicine so I don't croak at an early age. I've had issues with my weight my entire life. I'm just trying to find an eating plan that I like and think I can stick with. Never…

I started at 350 and am now at 290, but to be honest while I try to get more steps in everyday, I haven't really started an exercise program just yet. For losing weight, the nutrition is the most important thing. Exercise helps make you healthier (and also allows you to eat more) but you cannot out-exercise a terrible…

Thanks for the information, ya'll. The reason I asked is that I've been eating about net 60-70 g of carbs a day for about a week and half now (before I was around 125 g/day), and my appetite has been pretty blunted since the change. I've never not been hungry before, so this has been a unique experience for me. It's…

Milk is bad for gastric ulcers (milk increases gastric acid production), so I would not drink milk. Also avoid caffeine and coffee, spicy foods, and things that are hard to digest. Honestly, I would stick with a very soft bland diet. Smoothies without milk are fine. Make sure you take your PPI and whatever medicines…

I've recently switched from moderate carbs (less than 150 g/day) to low carb (try to keep my net carbs around 50-70 g per day) and I'm also loving it. I am not hungry like I used to be. And while I'm not quite low enough for ketosis, I do get to enjoy fruit or one meal with a little bit more carbs. Helps me keep more…

I also stink at moderation, so I just try to avoid carby processed snacks, like donuts, cookies, brownies, chips. I can't eat just one, and once I've stayed away from them I stop craving them.

Exactly. And if you are not very active (aka sedentary) you may need to eat under your BMR to get a deficit. I consistently eat under my BMR, and I have a lot of weight to lose (but I am still pretty sedentary). I still eat plenty of calories and take multivitamins. After 60 lbs lost, I am NOT losing my hair or nails.

I see both sides to this. I do think folks have a habit of saying (and I'm betting these folks fall under the category of not having that much weight to lose compared to say...someone morbidly obese who needs to lose more than a 100 lbs who may have terrible eating habits) that you can still eat your same diet just in…

I've lost almost 60 lbs eating 1200 calories a day and I'm quite comfortable with that amount of food. Granted, I am still relatively sedentary and haven't started workouts besides trying to increase the number of steps I take. I try to keep my carbs less than 100g, and eat more protein and fat and I really don't have a…

The whole topic of being fat is incredibly complex for me. I hate being fat. It stops me from doing the things I want to do. I love to travel, yet I have to spend a lot of money to fly because I want extra space so I don't impinge on my skinny neighbors. I love theater and ballet, yet I have the constant worry of whether…

I am the same way, thinking about food all of the time, even when I'm not hungry. One thing that has helped me is that I've stopped snacking during the day. I just eat breakfast, lunch, dinner plus some fruit. 3 meals a day. While I do get hungry in between meals, I'm not constantly thinking about food. When I ate 6 meals…

I had to deal with mental abuse growing up. I've been chubby since I was little (like seven years old) and a family member would berate me if I even went into the kitchen for a drink or to eat lunch. I was told that I was fat, that I was disgusting, that no man would ever love me, that I'd never amount to anything. I spent…

Anyone can feel free to add me. SW: 350 CW: 298 Goal: 190 (for now) Was just diagnosed with high blood pressure recently, so I'm very serious about getting the weight off. If you do add me, ignore the super low calories in my diary this week, I just had my wisdom teeth out a few days ago. :)

I'm not saying everyone can do 1200 calories ( or even should do 1200 calories, I'm relatively sedentary, only walk 3 miles 3 days a week) but not all of us who are eating that low are starving. I choose to eat a lot of fruit and veggies and lean protein, so I can eat pretty high volume on 1200 calories a day. And I'm not…

I eat moderate carbs (average between 100-150 g per day) but what I've learned recently is that I'm less hungry if I eat less processed food. I can eat carbs, but I try to make them whole grain and/or get my carbs from veggies and fruits. Occasionally I eat white carbs and notice I'm hungry much faster. I'm losing pretty…

I'm never motivated when I start but I force myself to start anyway. Once I get a few days of eating healthy in, I start to have more energy to do things and then the motivation and dedication comes. Just get through the first couple of days and it will get better! The weight may take a long time to come off, but the…

I love some of those already listed: Panera Asian Sesame, Ken's light honey dijon, Light italian from olive garden and also reduced fat buffalo ranch from wishbone (I think?), which has 70 calories for 2 tablespoons and tastes great!

I log it, but I don't weigh most non-starchy veggies. If anything, I'm sure I'm overestimating what I'm actually eating. If I hit a plateau at some point, I'll tighten up with the measurements on veggies.

You look fantastic, congrats!!!!
