I'm running my first marathon (MCM) in October. Started training a few weeks ago utilizing Hal Higdon IPhone App. Add me if you like.

Congrats!! It's a great accomplishment. Keep up the good work.

bump as this is a great topic.....

Thanks!! I ran my first Half at Disney World in January. Felt really good afterwards. Wound up with an IT Band issue in my left leg, but I have rested it for a few months while doing other stuff to stay fit (elliptical, weight training). Started running a few weeks ago and leg feels great (thanks to the foam roller).

I just began training for my first Marathon (Marine Corp) in October. Have only been a "runner" for a year, so I may be going into this blindly, but I am determined and focused, so we will see.

Ran first 5k last August when I was 42. Time was 34:10. Goal for 2012 is to run sub 20:00 (BWAHAHAHAHAHA)

Wall-E Toy Story (All 3) A Bug's Life Really though, have they made a bad movie yet???
-
Great job. Keep up the good work!!

YOU CAN DO IT. But it has to be done in steps. Forget the Half Marathon for now. First goal should be to finish a 5k this summer, then a 10K this fall. By early next year, you will be doing a Half. That's what I did. June 2011- weighed 250 pounds and never ran my whole life August 20th- Finished first 5k Sept/Oct- ran 6…

Great job!!!! Just completed my first Half in January, so I know how you feel. Keep up the great work.

Sorry, but YOU ARE A RUNNER! Congrats.

Grew up in West Orange too, just below the Eagle Rock Reservation. Was that deemed "Middle of the Hill??" :)

Awesome job. Keep up the great work!!!

I am too!! I may run my first marathon in October in Washington DC (Marine Corp. Marathon), then I'll try the "Goofy" next January. Congrats on your Marathon run last month. It was a great weekend.

Keeping it off will be the hard part. I'm going to continue to log my food, that should help.
-
Awesome job. You will be doing a half-marathon in no time. Keep up the great work.

SW-250 CW-168 GW- Reached Goal!! Goal now is to keep it off and to run a Marathon in 2012.

Just got back from Disney World. Since you are on the dining plan, expect to eat alot. What you want to do is not eat the "crap" food like hamburgers and chicken fingers. There is a great place at the Contemporary called The Wave. It's never busy and they have some healthy food selections, especially for breakfast. When…

Congrats!! I know exactly how you feel. Just completed my first Half-Marathon last weekend at Disney World (right around the same finish time as you). It's an amazing feeling. I'm going for the full Marathon next year.

Thank you everyone for the great information. Was able to run my first Half-Marathon last weekend (2:16, not too bad for a first-timer). ITB hurt a little when making turns and running up and down the "exit ramps" on the main roads at Disney. Now it's two months off from running so I can "RICE" the ITB.

Thanks for the great advice. I am going for PT for the next couple weeks to work on the leg. I'm sure it will help out.
-
Awesome job. Good luck this weekend. I have a feeling we will be seeing a post from you stating that you ran it in UNDER 30 minutes!!
-
Awesome!!!! Congrats. It's the best feeling crossing that finish line the first time. They are addictive, so be ready!!!
-
I love the C25K program. Before you know it, you will be running 10k's!!!
-
Thanks :) I really didn't do any official programs. Just every week I ran .25 to .50 miles longer. Before I knew it, I was up to 6 miles. I am now following the Jeff Galloway half marathon training program, as I am running in the Disney Half Marathon in January. And you can do it, believe me.

Thanks everyone! Could not have done this without so much support.

I can't wait until it's my greatest fitness accomplishment :) It looks like an amazing event.
