  • I like the Whey Factors one as well. I get it at Whole Foods, but it's sold all over the place (Superstore, Shoppers, etc.). Be careful with Vega... I'm not sure about their production practices and company ethics: http://www.cbc.ca/news/health/vega-one-nutritional-shakes-sports-drinks-recalled-1.2418099
  • Thank you all for your responses and for sharing the links. I have not been able to find that sweet spot of calories in/calories out where the weight just falls off. I am going to try tweaking it a bit ( I just upped my calories by 100 daily) and see if I have better success.
  • BBQ it on a cedar plank! Soak the cedar (or maple or alder) plank in water for 8 hours. Season the fillet with salt and pepper. Top with sliced lemon rounds and a sprig of fresh dill (or rosemary or thyme) or just do salt and pepper. Put the salmon on the plank and put the whole thing on the BBQ at medium heat for about 20…
  • That it's almost the end of January and I've lost 1 pound this month. I can't seem to find that calories in/calories out sweet spot where the weight just falls off. SO FRUSTRATING!!
  • That website IS awesome! Thanks for posting. You just cleared up a ton of confusion for me.
  • Canadian here too, and I LOVE poutine! Honestly, I wouldn't try and make a healthier version. I would just enjoy a smaller portion less frequently. I live in Vancouver and some restaurants here use mushroom gravy. I think it's just as good, but I'm not sure it's any better calorie-wise. Lots of Montreal poutine shops also…
  • My faves: cookinglight.com epicurious.com cleaneating.com vegetariantimes.com Ditto many of the above posts, too!
  • One of my favourite snacks is some canned black beans and cooked brown rice mixed with salsa. It's super filling and delicious! Sometimes I will bulk it up a bit by adding halved cherry tomatoes, thawed frozen corn, diced pepper, shredded carrot - whatever you want! Or top with a bit of crumbled feta or cheddar cheese.
  • Bob Harper's Skinny Rules Turkey Chili with 1/2 cup of black beans added and an entire chopped, small avocado on top. I cannot wait!
  • Wow!! You seriously look 10 years younger. CONGRATULATIONS on all your success! 50 pounds is SO MUCH weight! Great job!
  • Personally, I love them! Your body needs the water in foods as well as water you drink, to process and absorb nutrients, fibre and toxins. Oranges are also a great source of vitamin c, vitamin a, potassium, fibre and folate. This is why I eat oranges: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=37 That, and…
  • One of my favourite lunches is a mix of brown rice, black beans, chopped frozen kale and feta cheese. I cook up a big pot of brown rice on the weekend (or barley, farro, etc.). In the morning I take the kale out of the freezer and add in the other stuff. By lunch time, it's all thawed and ready to go. I sometimes mix the…
  • 1. Potato chips. I can eat an entire family-size bag in one go, easily. 2. Pizza. Ditto on the eating a whole pizza in one go. 3. Chopping fatigue. Some days I just cannot bring myself to chop another vegetable.
  • Beautiful Vancouver, BC It's wonderful to see people from all over the world here!
  • When I did this video, I did 14 days on each level. I was so sore after the first day though, I had to take 2 days off! I was shredded. LOL!
  • Hi all, My weight is 214.4. I was feeling so bad about only being down .6, but it's so nice to know that I am not alone! Thanks everyone for sharing your struggles this past week. We can do this! Best of luck for a better week next week.
  • Hi all, I'm in Vancouver! I would love to connect with other Canadians on these boards. I just started journalling again this January and am really looking forward to seeing some success. Cheers!
  • Wow, MsSeaShell - you rock! That spreadsheet was impressive! Can I get in on this challenge? I would LOVE to lose 10 pounds by Valentine's Day! My SW is 215. Thanks!
  • Hi Jenna, Great job on taking the first step! I think you need to retrain your taste buds so you know what real food tastes like! When you douse cucumbers in tons of salt, you aren't really tasting the cucumber, are you? There must be more veggies out there that you like... try them in different ways, too. My husband hates…
  • Hi there! I don't post too much on the forums, but I am also having a great week. In this month's issue of Glow magazine, there is an article called "The Clever Way to Cleanse". It's a 3-day menu plan that is focused around whole foods. I usually eat pretty healthy, but it sounded yummy, so I thought I would give it a try…
  • Congratulations!!!!!! Isn't running awesome? It's so amazing how you can go from hardly being able to move to being able to run a mile in 12 minutes. WOOOO!!
  • Me too!! The homemade combinations are endless, it takes all of 15 seconds to make and best of all, I can pronounce all of the ingredients! P.S. Thanks for the tip on the balsamic vinegar and maple syrup. I'm going to try that tonight. Is it just those 2 ingredients, no oil?
  • According to this site, I get about 35 grams of fibre a day. Here are my faves: beans (try a white bean soup with carrots and kale or a homemade black bean soup with corn and red pepper) grains (barley, bulgur, millet and quinoa are my favourites and wonderful as a side dish with grilled fish) fruits and veggies (apples…
