I do not eat a mainly meat diet; however, my tdee changes drastically eating keto vs standard American diet. I definitely can eat more calories to maintain my weight.

I could not ovulate on metformin and clomid. Once I dropped my carbs to a keto level, I ovulate every month.

I had the worst migraines since I was a small child. My mother took me to see a doctor for them at 5 years old. Nothing took them away until I started low carb. I have not had a single migraine since February 2014.

This make sense to me. There are several seizure medications that are also used for psychiatric conditions. So a diet that helps with seizure disorders could very well help with psychiatric conditions.

I have pcos and type 2 diabetes. When I first started eating a ketogenic diet, I really had to watch the protein too. Protein caused my sugar to spike quite a bit. I would eat very small protein portions but eat more frequently. I was able to stop my insulin and oral meds right away, but I was already eating pretty low…

Ive had some setbacks during the last year and a half too. Don't let them get you down. I went to an amusement park, and it was so hot. I bought a frozen lemonade and drank it before looking at the carb content. It had 99 carbs. I also had breaded chicken tenders that day. I didn't lose anything for about 4 weeks after…

KnitOrMiss is right on the money. She has given you excellent advice. I usually eat 4 ounces of meat at a meal or pick a fatty cut. I cook in real butter or bacon grease, and only heavy cream in my coffee. I snack on cream cheese cubes wrapped in bacon. I make cheese balls with pepperoni and eat it with a spoon. Lately, I…

Also most sugar alcohols and all the powdered artificial sweeteners in the packets. Most of them have nutritive dextrose as the first ingredient. Are you eating products that contain these things? Also I apologies if you mentioned it, but are you diabetic or IR?

I know some people subtract fiber, but high fiber foods kick me out of ketosis even if they are low net carbs. Even psyllium husks are a no go for me.

I ate low carb before doing keto but was not in ketosis. I had to really lower carbs and up fats to get into ketosis. Also too much protein could have been an issue before. If I ate too much protein at one sitting, I would get a blood sugar spike. I try not to eat too much at a time.

Hi Christie, I have been eating a ketogenic diet since February 2014. I have lost 83 pounds and am currently maintaining my loss eating 1900 calories a day. I am 5 ft 2 inches tall and weigh 117 pounds. I am 39 years old, have pcos, am a very insulin resistant type 2 diabetic, and am in perimenopause. I will never stop…

Sometimes I make a cheeseball and eat it with a spoon. I use cream cheese, pepperoni, green onions, and Worcestershire sauce.

I have been eating a ketogenic diet for awhile now. I have never had filmy pee. Actually, my urine is quite clear with no odor at all. I don't think everyone experiences the same effects.

Almost always under 40.

I've tried them and hate them.

Just because your brother can eat Carbs in moderation does not mean the OP can. Every diabetic has a different amount of insulin resistance and carb sensitivity.

I would go from high 200s down to 30ish.

I have type 2 diabetes. I used to have severe hypoglycemia and high blood sugar all day long. I would go really high then come crashing down. This would happen even when I was on no medications or insulin. I actually had less hypos when I went on insulin. Now I eat low carb high fat and am on NO medication or insulin and…

My eyes did the same thing when my blood sugar went from high to normal. My vision returned to normal shortly after my blood sugar was kept in a normal range. I believe I read somewhere drastic decreases in blood sugar may cause sudden blurry vision, but definitely follow up with your doctor to make sure.

Everyone is so different in what does or does not spike blood sugar. My suggestion to you is to test your blood sugar before and one and 2 hours after you eat for awhile and log everything on paper including what foods and how many Carbs you ate. You will see how certain foods affect your blood sugar. I can't eat very much…

I know a lot of people view diabetes as being caused by obesity, but I feel like there is more to it than that. Every diabetic's degree of insulin resistance and carb sensitivity is different. So just because one diabetic can eat rice and whole grain bread doesn't mean another can. Artificial sweeteners and sugar alcohols…

I think more young people have diabetes but aren't tested. Most people in their twenties only go to the doctor when they feel sick.

Do you have a family history of diabetes? I had precursors to diabetes as a child. I had hypoglycemia, skin tags, and acanthosis nigricans. I also have a huge family history. My siblings have been diagnosed at a very early age as well.
