I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid 13 years ago. I started on a low dose of Levothyroxine and over the years it has steadily increased and now I am on 150mg per day. Prior to being diagnosed i used to be able to lose weight easily but I do find it more difficult now but then I am 51 and I have found it harder…

Thanks both of you

I have an underactive thyroid so I do struggle with weight loss due to this but thanks for the replies. MFP told me to have 1200 per day but according to the Scooby workshop website when i put all my stats in it said that my TDEE is 2111 so eating at a deficit of 20% gave me 1689 which i should be able to lose weight at.

I only started logging on here 26th Feb but I was counting my calories. I had used MFP before I got married and it had told me then 1200 calories so I was following that before I signed back up. I tend to eat the same stuff so I hadn't changed what I was eating when I started logging on here. I couldn't remember my login…

I've been eating 1200 calories a day and exercising 3 -4 times a week for 8 weeks and up until last week I hadn't lost any weight. I calculated my TDEE and started eating more and I have lost a 1lb this week so maybe you are not eating enough

I did Atkins a few years ago and lost 10lbs doing it and felt great and full of energy....never felt better to be honest but I found it hard because I like to eat a lot of fruit which is not really allowed on the Atkins so gave it up. that is the only thing that stops me doing it again because I certainly felt so much…

Hello, I have just decided to up my calories today as MFP has said that I should eat 1200 per day. I have not lost any weight at all, not an ounce and I am struggling with 1200 on non exercise days so going to increase. Hopefully this will work as it seems to work for others so maybe it will work for us. I know when I did…

Okay thanks, I haven't lost any weight so far so its worth a try

MFP has calculated 1200 calories per day for me. I am okay with it on the days that i exercise because I eat back some of the calories earnt but on any rest days I must admit I do struggle. I dont really have enough calories left to have a decent meal this evening, and I like to eat plenty of fruit so I will go out for a…

Thanks for the replies, I was hoping that I was burning fat and building muscle but then someone said a few days ago that you cannot build muscle eating a calorie deficit. I do eat the extra calories that I earn on days that i exercise

I am the same and have been eating healthy and going to the gym three times a week for 6 weeks and not lost an ounce but my body fat percentage has gone down and my clothes feel a bit looser. I have also had people comment that I look like I've lost weight so not going to let the weight on the scales demotivate me. Muscle…

I havent lost an ounce either but my body fat percentage has gone down and my clothes are getting looser. If you are exercising muscle is heavier than fat so try not to worry about it so much

Great thanks for your reply. I was worried about getting demotivated when the scales weren't moving but the bodyfat loss has made me feel better.

I have been strength training for about a month and although I haven't lost any weight, my body fat percentage has gone down. I am hoping that I will start to get more toned and not worrying too much about the weight.

My Ex husband was really controlling and once told me if I lost any more weight he would leave me, he didn't but I was the one that left him in the end because he wanted to control me and also was very jealous. I was always on and off diets when my children were younger. You could guarantee as soon as I went on a diet, he…

Hi, I have had an underactive thyroid for 13 years and I am on 150mg of thyroxine per day. It does make it harder to lose weight. I find that some days my energy levels are really low. I have recently joined MFP and I am exercising in the gym three times a week, I also went for a 7 mile bike ride yesterday and a walk for…

Hello, I suffered from Anxiety for years on and off and used to be on anti depressants and beta blockers. I just decided one day that I didn't want to be taking tablets any more and weaned myself off them. I have the odd bout of anxiety but It can be months between them. I am quite a strong minded person and told myself…

Hello, I have just signed up to MFP. After putting a stone and a half on in weight over the last two years through getting into bad eating habits and no exercise I decided that I had had enough and wanted to get fit, back into shape and feel good about myself again. I have started eating healthy again and going to the gym…
