Siri is cute, but I dont use it. It would not find what I wanted most of the time.

WRONG ! I had Android, and for years went out of my way to avoid Apple and the iPhone. Recently broke down and got one. All I kept saying to myself was WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG. There is no comparison. IPHONE ALL THE WAY, everything else is crap.

I would do whatever works for you. Its a great idea to introduce both cardio and strength training into anyone's routine. If you plan on exercising 2 or 3 days a week, alternate between the two. One day weights the next cardio. No matter how you shake it, it will be better than what you have been doing so far. As you…

It sounds to me like your eating well. If you entered your information accurately into MFP and the recommendation is 2000 calories a day I would run with it and see how that works for you. If your at 1800 and you need to be at 2000 your not far off. Grab some peanut butter and some veggies and enjoy those final 200…

Keep it up !! You can do this, do it for yourself FIRST and everyone else second !! You definitely have the right attitude. Your family will thank you for it.

THANKS !! :drinker:

I am not the type to announce my success to the world, but tonight I feel on top of the world. Days when you feel this good about yourself don't come often so when they are here, what the heck, enjoy it! I ran 6 miles tonight ! Might not be much to some, might sound unattainable to others, I really don't care. To me, this…

Growing up sucks ! Its time to stand on your own two legs and do it on your own. You can do it and your friends on MFP will support you on the journey. You cant rely on others to cook you healthy meals, or make you exercise. Your mom has done the best she can, and chances are that she's just not ready to make a change. You…

Hybrid would be the way to go if you plan to go off road and wanted a more relaxed riding position. They are heavier than your traditional road bike but will have shocks and some grippier tires in case you do go off road. Regardless of Hybrid or Road you must get it from a reputable local bike shop. DO NOT buy from walmart…

Sounds to me like your full of **** I mean poop, oh nevermind...

Tony, I wish you the best on your journey, MFP if full of lots of great folks that will be here with words of encouragement along the way. Congrats, starting is the hardest step.

WOW !! Holy Hot Tamales !! You look fantastic ! Congrats!!!!

WOW ! Lots of good information here. I am glad I bought the small box of the stuff. I have to admit it tasted too good to be true, thus the reason for my post. I will look into alternatives.

My wife had a similar reaction at the start of my journey with MFP last year. She thought MFP was a waste of time, and would get upset when I would refuse to eat like I used to. There were lots of arguments early on..... The good news is that in time she began seeing my results and became less hesitant about it. She still…

If your looking for accuracy you will need the chest strap a HRM provides.

I just made some and thought it was pretty good. I make it with almond milk. add a dash of salt, some cinnamon, and the slightest bit of vanilla extract. Then throw in some raisins and a few raw almonds. I liked it :)

New running shoes !! The heart rate monitor is cool to have but you will find that after using it a handful of times you'll pretty much know how many calories your burning for those given exercises and you wont use it as often or ever again. As long as you keep running and exercising you'll reap the benefits of those new…

Rest until the pain is completely gone. Then try again but at a slower pace. Assuming the pain doesn't return you can increase intensity with every subsequent run until you get back to your current pace/distance.

Your not eating enough. Your supposed to eat all your allotted calories each day. There are hundreds of posts explaining why, and the details of starvation mode, etc. I will spare you those details here. You can search the boards and you will find tons of info. But basically, if your taking in less than 1200 calories a day…

WOW !! You look amazing. Congrats

What did the physical therapy entail ? Did you go to a sports medicine doctor?

Thanks for that advise. Are there any elbow braces that might help ?

Its fine to go over the MFP recommendation. The more fiber you take in the better.

It didnt mean anything ! I was drunk.

Shin splints are usually caused by pushing a bit beyond your ability. Try slowng your pace a bit and take smaller steps (shorter stride) You can search youtube for proper running form, theres lots of really good videos there. It worked for me. Good luck !

Another helpful pointer..... The cigarette cravings tend to only last for 3 minutes at a time. So when they come on strong, just tell yourself that you are only having to endure them for 3 minutes. Drink plenty of water to keep yourself feeling full. I used to go for a walk up the stairs and then back down to my desk…

Cut back on the sugars, they tend to make you more hungry. Instead substitute proteins and fiber. You'll stay full, you'll feel the difference really fast.

Sounds about right. Obviously it depends on how hard your working out. A good rule of thumb is 300 calories per 30 minutes. I use my heart rate monitor all the time and for me its 300/30 Higher when I push myself and lower when I'm slacking off...
