Hey everyone, so I just got my tax refund (wootwoot) and am trying to debate on whether I should get a pair of new running shoes or a good hrm. I currently dont have a hrm, but I kind of feel like it is very important to know exactly what u r burning, so you are not eating too much or too little, especially since i am doing p90x and it is hard to "guess." My nikes i have right now are about a yr old, I just started wearing them everyday though about 6 months ago. I can feel they are a little worn, but i figure nothing some inserts cant fix?? tell me what you guys feel is more important:)

    New running shoes !!

The heart rate monitor is cool to have but you will find that after using it a handful of times you'll pretty much know how many calories your burning for those given exercises and you wont use it as often or ever again.

As long as you keep running and exercising you'll reap the benefits of those new shoes!

Shoes are more important - no question!
An HRM is a nice toy/tool but if you don't have good shoes you risk an injury and then you may not be able to exercise at all.

I love my heart rate monitor and use it everyday and my burns are Never the same.... I think it will be personal preference but for me I get a couple years out of each pair of my shoes.... I have the Polar FT60 HRM..........

you actually didnt say if you run much. if you're doing p90x as your main source of exercise and not running much then the hrm is a really useful tool. I love mine, however, as someone else stated, i dont use it very often. If your doing a lot of running then I would say the shoes, if not then the hrm.

Shoes for sure! The HRM is good, useful and fun, but good trainers are essential for your wellbeing.

    Happy choosing!

I do run a couple times a week, p90x is my number one workout tho..hmmm its def a split decision...I just worry that without a hrm I'm not.gonna get the full benefits.of.all this because I may be overeating etc, but I good pair of.shoes sound.just as good...how often r I supposed to change.out ur shoes? If I didn't mention, I have also started working in these shoes(cna) so I'm constantly on my feet so I think they r wearing out even faster.

look for a HRM on Amazon (waaaay cheaper than the stores) and also buy your running shoes.
