OP, do you have anyone who will strength train with you? I struggle with it too but like many others love the benefits from it so I persevere. It really helps to have a friend to suffer alongside me, lol. IT'S WORTH IT!!!

Totally bookmarked it as I myself need help figuring out where to go to do good, well-founded research. Thank you so much!!!

It would sound conceited if you were looking down on the other girl, but you were showing empathy because you've been where she is, and that's awesome. We don't work this hard just so we can act like our success is nothing, so keep lovin' yo body girl! Haha

If you're "skinny fat" and want to tone up, lifting heavy is key. Have you been lifting any weights?

This. Exactly why I mentioned a challenge could potentially be hard on the psyche. But, like I said, it allll depends.

When I was obese I lost at around 10 lbs a month, partially because, well, I was obese, and, well, I wanted to get out of the obese range due to the ever impending threat of prediabetes hanging over my head. After losing the first 50 lbs or so I've since lost slowly (being that I feel I'm out of the "danger" region now,…

Again, awesome NSVs guys :)
-
Haha! Those NSVs are always awkward but encouraging nonetheless

That would be neat! My husband is skinny as a bean pole so I have no dreams of fitting into his clothes (I like mah curves!!! Haha), but I can imagine how awesome that would be, esp. since I used to weight about 100 lbs more than my husband, now it's just like a respectable 35 lbs haha. Loving the NSVs, keep 'em coming!

Awesome NSVs guys!
-
Haha! That's awesome.

That's really true though, hadn't thought about it that way.

Thanks! It's so nice to go to the doctor and find out that I have a normal blood glucose and triglycerides, and a kickass heart rate heh heh :)

Very visible! WTG!!

Way to be a badass! And while the weight loss was a bit faster than usual, I can relate. I had prediabetes (at only 27!) and was really in a hurry to avoid getting diabetes, so I lost at about 10 lbs/month for the first 5/5.5 months. And now I've been losing at anywhere between 2-5 lbs a month depending on how lazy and…

(I also love to make veggie and fruit smoothies - about 2/3 veg and 1/3 fruit by volume - and adding flaxseed and hempseed to get lots of good nutrients without having to spend an hour eating to get the same amount of fruits and veggies)

I hear protein shakes, ensures, etc. are also a good way to get lots of calories if you're struggling to eat. I work in a hospital, and that's what we give patients who aren't really eating so that they get the calories/nutrients they need. Just a thought, either way glad to hear you're finding something that works for you…

That's awesome!!! Way to go :)

This. When I get on my period I gain 5 lbs OVERNIGHT. And when I'm switching from "clean" eating (lots of fruits and veggies, low added sugars/salts/oils/etc) to eating lots of meat, dairy, bread, sodium, etc. I also gain about 5 lbs practically overnight. Both due to water retention and to, erm...digestive stuff. And I…

That's an awesome feeling. I am down to only one pair of pants that isn't loose on me, and one pair of pants I bought (to keep me motivated) that doesn't yet fit (like it won't even button yet lol). Kind of hard having few clothes that fit you right (and no money to buy more), but a good feeling to be fitting into smaller…

Almost 3 months into starting weightlifting with a friend, my arms and upper chest are finally starting to look muscular (kinda). And last night, when we were doing core exercises, I really felt a difference in my strength when I hadn't so much before (except for my planking abilities). Feels really good to be getting…

No hazing here. It's nice to meet you, congrats on the awesome weight loss!

Honestly, I felt the same way until I started going to the gym. Then, while I did find that yes, there were tons of people more fit than me who went to the gym, there were also tons of people my size or even much bigger (and people much, much older than me too) who went. I'd like to point out that I'm pretty sure I started…

Soooo agree with this. That's actually how I got and stayed sober (over 3 years now!), and when it finally clicked that I could apply the same principles to weight loss, it worked! I avoid thinking about "forever" here: Instead of thinking, "wow am I going to really have to do this for the rest of my life - that seems…

Haha! Thanks everyone.

I haven't checked My Topics in a while so I apologize for the delayed response... I guess eating (sort of) clean, and a plant-based diet, really helped me a lot. Plants fill me up and keep me satisfied, while the amount of calories I consume is pretty low. (I figure I probably consume like 300-400 calories when I eat a…

Somewhere between a small bale of hay and a 5000 btu air conditioner...no wonder I feel better, that's some heavy stuff!!!

Yes!!! I had a bunch of size 13 pants that were super cute, and probably some super cute shirts, that I gave away to a friend who I don't talk to anymore, who I'm pretty sure never leaves the house. I gave them to her because I figured I would never make it this far. Now I'm like probably 1-2 months from being able to fit…
