I am 260 pounds and can do 50 pushups in a row now, as opposed to only being able to do 10 ASSISTED (not girl) pushups. All you have to do is work on them every other day, I go until my chest burns. Look up Stew Smoth Beginners Fitness, he does a better explanation.
