Cookie and Kate has a lot of good vegetarian recipes that are flavorful and veggie-centric: http://cookieandkate.com/

I think you make a couple of spot on points here. Every relationship is a contract, and each person has to decide what their terms are. Everyone has dealbreakers, whether it is a certain degree of weight gain, behavior change, or too many knicknacks on a shelf. The important thing is having the self awareness to…

My statement was directed specifically at the people who had self-identified as men in the discussion, but could be generalized to anyone who did not carry and give birth to the child. In my opinion the sex/gender of the parties involved are not the important part.

It was the least fun way to gain weight ever, the food actually tasted terrible!

Oh I agree, hence my statement that if you haven't experienced it firsthand maybe you should pause and think about if you can possibly understand it fully. I primarily gained weight early in my pregnancy, and it was due to morning sickness. As someone said a while back, morning sickness doesn't always mean vomiting. I…

Even if no one said those words directly, the attitude toward the men in this thread was dismissive and disrespectful with regards to their presumed understanding of what it is like to have/care for a new baby.

My two cents on the pregnancy weight gain issue, though I’m not interested in getting in the middle of a conversation that is clearly spiraling downward. The toll on the body of pregnancy, childbirth, and recovery while caring for a newborn is hard and real. For me it was the most physically intense and grueling thing I’ve…

This is an interesting question, and one I have personal experience with from multiple perspectives. My first marriage basically imploded over weight related issues. My ex and I had both been overweight and comfortable. I started to lose weight and get in shape, he kept gaining. Not only did our lifestyles diverge, but I…

I've been able to get some good deals on Craigslist. Especially if you are willing to watch and wait a bit, fitness equipment is something a lot of people buy but then end up getting rid of.

Best tasting gluten free bread I've found is Udi's. They make a white version and a whole grain. I still try to eat it only occasionally, since it doesn't have much redeeming nutritional value. At least it doesn't bother the tummy though :)

Don't get discouraged! I've been running for a couple of years, log an average of 20 miles a week, and still have runs where I feel like I'm going to die. Sometimes I can pinpoint a reason, but most of the time it seems completely random. Just chalk it up to an off day and try not to let it psych you out for next time. In…

Avocados grow on a pretty big tree, not something I would recommend unless you have a lot of space and time to wait. Good luck on your plants! Tomatoes can be kind of finicky (though California probably has better weather for it than here in Georgia), but the end result is awesome. So much better than the ones picked green…

Woohooo Congratulations!!! I love that feeling! The exact same thing happened to me yesterday. I unpacked all of my size 14/12 shorts that had been in winter storage and they were too loose. Went to Target to get some that fit and I'm down to a size 10!

I think you and I have exactly the same problem...really annoying, but it's good to know I'm not alone! I've only lost about 10 lbs but I've gone down a full cup size, and it's especially noticeable on the smaller side. I also have broad shoulders and build muscle pretty easily for a woman. I'm sometimes afraid I'm going…

Ugh, I feel you on the back issues. I have recurring problems with lower back, and just tweaked it again yesterday getting a little too overzealous on some sprints. I'm off to try some water aerobics now, I'm hoping that the reduced pressure from being in the water will feel good. Other than that the only thing that has…
