In the mirror: I see nothing yet. On the scale: I have gone from 264 to 254 in the past 6 weeks. I was doing a decent 2lb/week until yesterday, where I found that I had apparently lost no weight. :/ And I weigh myself in the morning too, before eating. I did not defecate first though.

> how much confidence it will actually bring, especially when strangers start treating you like royalty all of a sudden! Maybe it's just me, but I don't like excessive attention. I also don't like the implication that my weight makes me an inherently better person... does this mean when I was (currently am) fat they…

Do you have any sort of accountability? This could backfire, but you might want to start telling people about your results weekly. Perhaps via a blog. Then you'll know that there are people expecting you to talk about your week, how much you lose, etc. which will encourage you to stick to your plan.

Incredible. But I heard that loosing too fast can lead to excess flaps of skin...

That's great. I went to the doctor after having some bloodwork done, and he says that I now have Diabetes (A1C of 6.8). So far I have not told anyone I know, but I am working to get it in control. Mainly by returning to MFP and being much more strict with what I eat. But it seems like ever since he told me the news, I have…

Thanks midwesterner85. I am comforted by how many of the tips for controlling diabetes are generally good advice for all people.

I may have diabetes as well. From research I found that those on diabetes can do the same exercises as a non-diabetic. However, you cannot eat far above your TDEE in order to "bulk": see http://johndoebodybuilding.com/bodybuilding-diabetes/ for some good advice related to strength-training.

Try to plan what you're eating before you eat it. I know that last year, I would eat snacks and then add them later in the day/tommorow, after the fact. Your profile says you've lost 11 lbs and have 24 to go, which isn't bad at all. Maybe you're already doing it right? I dunno, I need more information to offer better…

Currently I am just getting back into the swing of things, and have found a seemingly consistent way to achieve approximately a 1200-1300 deficit. Plus or minus a few items this is basically what I'm trying to do: https://i.imgur.com/pexa5G7.png I am quite heavy so I think this is feasible. I used the standard MFP TDEE…

Not really feeling 6... this can seriously backfire if the person isn't skilled at counseling or offering advice. Either they are recreational athletes since childhood who have never had an ounce of fat in their life and assume it's all about "willpower", or they are older folks who think they magically absorbed a bunch of…

I get this feel all the time, usually after a box/$3 bag of something cheesy. After I realize the whole thing is gone, I get a feeling like post-*kitten* guilt, hah.

Starvation mode is largely a myth. While your metabolism will slow from starving, "starving" doesn't mean eating 300 calories less than you were supposed to. It means literally starving for a few days.

The very first weighing I did was with clothes. Next week it was just boxers and an undershirt, and the week after that I started doing it in the morning instead of the evening. I tested with and without my standard "gear" yesterday (pants, belt, shirt, jacket, phone, wallet full of change) and the difference was over 3…

Alright, changed it to 161.8 . Thanks guys. Also in response to: "You will achieve the flat stomach way before you get to 130. If not, you probably haven't lost weight in a healthy way." A few years back I went from 220 to about 170 over the course of a year, not really with a goal of weight loss but just from being a busy…
