At any less than 130 I start looking scrawny. However I hate how my midsection looks. I have chicken legs and arms and a thick middle. My maintenance calorie level is around 1800. Would 1400 net calories be a appropriate level to shoot for? I heard you need to be close to your TDEE level to gain muscle.

I have colitis (flare up free for a year and a half!). Lots of water and probiotics (along with my meds) have kept me in good shape. During flare ups I cut out dairy, go low carb (read paleo-like) and as low fiber as possible.

Thanks everyone. It's unfortunately a networking dinner...not a date dinner. I'm only on week 3, and have been doing well... I don't want to sabotage myself. I've been so good at logging...that not knowing how to do it for tonight is throwing me for a loop.
