  • Scaled 70. Our box had us use 1 bar and switch weights in between lifts (add/remove the 10#). Owner thought it would be fair for the busier classes that didn't have enough bars for 2 bars/person. wasn't happy but I'm new. I don't think it impacted me too much, I may have gotten a few more reps in though.

  • yea - they took his name off. though i guess his profile is still there.
  • I did this on Friday. I did the scaled, since I've only been doing crossfit for 3 months. I'm also in the womens masters 45-49. I'm pretty happy. Thought about trying again, but decided to just be happy with it: 150 reps and 95 lbs. (scaled).
  • I've only been doing crossfit for 3 months now, but decided to do the open since my box was doing the WOD anyway. And I can compare next year to see how I progress. I did 15.1 (scaled of course) this morning and at the time was happy with my results. I've never done the C&J. But I am such a competitive person (to my…
  • ^^^^ I prep my food for the day and my clothes the night before. I get up at 5:25am and get to a 6:00am crossfit everyday. I try to go to bed before 10pm to get enough sleep as possible. I eat a hardboiled egg before workout for some quick protein. I do sleep in on the weekends (8am). It sucks getting up, but I feel that…
  • i'm with you. before I started crossfit (in Dec), I couldn't even do singles. I can now do singles and am working on DU. I can get one and then I think I'm stunned that I did it and mess it all up.
  • I do 6am crossfit 5 x's a week. I eat a hardboiled egg pre-workout and then 2 eggs (cooked w/ ghee) and sweet potatoes post-workout. So far - that's been working for me.
  • I am the only one in my family of 5 (husband and 3 sons (18, 18, 11). I cook only one dinner for all to eat. I still buy cereal for kids breakfast, I still buy bread for lunches. My family benefits from atleast a healthier dinner. If I make sauce, I have spaghetti squash and do make pasta for the rest. And on the nights…
  • I appreciate your advice. I have also read some info about iodine, but haven't tried anything at this point. I've been taking my synthroid med for about 25 years now and seems to be working - I guess I was just hoping my healthier lifestyle/eating habits would eliminate having to take a pill everyday. Thanks!
  • What types of foods affect your thyroid. I'm still playing around with this - so I'm curious what to possibly watch for. thanks!
  • I'll ask my doctor about Armor - thanks. she increased me dosage for 2 months (synthroid) and I will retest after that. when I go in for the retest I'll mention the Armor.
  • No expert here, but I kept my calories the same. For loosing weight, I try to keep my carbs under 100g, my protein between 90-100g (1g/lean body weight) and the rest fat. Your protein and fat may be more or less, but the carbs are pretty much under 100g for loosing. Some people do 50g for carbs. I found that if I stay…
  • Ah - now that should be the goal for everything in life - do better this year than last
  • What works for me us to follow a paleo lifestyle. I eat high protein, fat and low carb. I fuel my workouts with higher carb veggies, but stay completely away from grains. I know this is not for everyone, but it works for me. I don't eat anything with added sugar or processed food either. Eating this way got me down to my…
  • Yea, I'm not sure I'll get used to being OK with the scale increase and if I didn't have the monthly weigh-ins that show my body fat % and muscle mass, even with my clothes fitting better, I still might be concerned. But as you say "old habits die hard". Thanks!
  • Thanks. I know it's mental habit and something I just need to work through. I read the longevity link too. Must admit to not following all the medical terminology, but get the gist of it. I think because prior to doing crossfit, I was doing a year of boxing/kickboxing and was already in "good" shape - but just 2 months of…
  • I'm in. Our box is doing the workouts anyway. So, why not. I'm new to crossfit (started in December) so not expecting much, but know I will improve over time!
  • My 2015 goals: 1) For January - Whole30 Challenge. Just started eating paleo 3 months ago - so want to try the Whole30 to kick start the year 2) Double Unders. I just started CF 1 month ago and lets just say, jump rope was never my thing. I'm finally able to do about 10-15 singles in a row. I did one DU the other day in…
  • I'm in. I was planning on trying the Whole30 anyway. I've been doing paleo for about 3-4 months now and wanted to kick it up a notch in January anyway. happy holidays!
  • Congratulations! Keep up the good work. Merry christmas!
  • I just started crossfit 3 weeks ago. I did 115lb 8RM the other day. I don't know what my 1RM would be at this point.
  • Congratulations! You look amazing and are truly an inspiration!
  • google paleo recipes. You will get a ton of support and recipes.
  • thanks everyone for the advice. I was going to post another question today - but will tack it onto this. What do you drink during a normal day? I used to drink 1-2 diet cokes a day - but stopped drinking it when I went "primal". So now all I drink is water and natural tea. That may get old after awhile. I would like some…
  • I know I won't give up beer for life, but I've been able to limit to only occasionally. I could go months without one beer. I know it's a "wheat" - so that's my concern now - where before it was just calories, which I now know was incorrect thinking. Thanks for the advice. I'm excited to reap the benefits of this new…

  • OK - I'll try this. Training for my first 1/2 marathon in November - so this will help keep me motivated to train. My goal this month is 50 miles - since it's my first month :-). We'll see if I get the ticker correct...
