I was curious about this the other day, so I tried looking up scientific studies that showed they were beneficial.... but I couldn't really find anything that wasn't anecdotal. The conclusion was more - hey, it can't hurt. I find warm baths feel good for sore muscles regardless. If anyone else has more info to offer, I'm…

Added. :) Vegetarian.

I looooove ice cream, so I buy mini ice cream sandwiches (90 cal) or fudge bars (100 cal). I can usually fit those in at the end of the day.

^Lentils are awesome. They're not low carb, but they do contain plenty of protein and keep you feeling full. I make a very filling salad with quinoa, edamame beans (both great sources of protein), rounded out with a bunch of fresh veg. Hemp seeds are good too. If you eat dairy products, greek yogurt and cottage cheese are…

I work 12 hour shifts (7-7), both day and night. I'm usually much hungrier during day shifts, so it's more of a challenge to stay within my calorie range. I eat like this: 7am: Coffee and banana 9am: Breakfast (cereal or oatmeal) 1pm: Lunch (salad or leftovers -- make sure there's enough protein/veg) 4pm: Snack…

My go-to snacks are fruit or cottage cheese.

Greek yogurt and 4% cottage cheese are my go-to snacks when I need more protein. Have you tried fake meat products, like vegetarian sausages, tofu dogs, etc? They usually contain decent protein without adding lot of calories.

I'm in Montreal as well! Welcome and good luck! :)

31 here. My goal is to rock my 30's, fitness-wise. :) Feel free to add.

Not sure if this is available where you live, but I like Yves Tofu Dogs. http://www.yvesveggie.com/products/detail.php/tofu-dog Note: Yves sells both Veggie Dogs and Tofu Dogs. The Veggie Dogs are terrible. Buy the Tofu Dogs!!

When you only have a small amount of weight to lose, the progress can be slow. And fluctuations because of water retention, time of the month, etc, can often mask your actual weight loss. (I'll sometimes fluctuate as much as four pounds within a day or two!) I've had weeks where even though I'm diligent about my logging…

5'4.5 here. Starting weight 140, current weight 132, goal weight 120. I'm mostly working on fat loss right now. Once I get into the 120-125 range, I'd like to start some kind of resistance training program to build muscle. I don't have a gym membership right now (I might get one in the fall), so my exercise comes from…

Ugh, yes! I've only lost 8 pounds (starting weight 140), but I feel like I look exactly the same... just less bloated. I haven't had any comments from anyone except my fiancé, who thinks my boobs are getting smaller. :s LOL

Vegetarian! Feel free to add me.

350cal/100g seems right for the brands I have (green lentils). Maybe different kinds of lentils have different nutritional properties? I guess the important thing is to weigh them instead of using measuring cups.

This is what I do with my fiancé. He likes biking, so on our days off, we'll go for a nice long bike ride together. Is there a sport or activity you two can do together?
-
Ugh, yes. I'm down 8 pounds, with 12 more to go. (No baby weight - just vanity, lol.) I am making progress, but it feel suuuuuper slow. I have a feeling it will only get harder as I get closer to my goal weight.
-
You can do it!! I'm also 5'4. Started at 140, currently at 132, with a goal weight of 120. I've lost about 8 pounds in a little over two months. It feels really slow, but at least it's progress. I'm hoping to hit the halfway mark before I leave for vacation in two weeks! eeek! My goal is 1300/day plus exercise calories.…

I'm a vegetarian on 1300/day + exercise calories, but I went through my diary to find a vegan day with no exercise. Here's what I ate: Breakfast (350 cal): Oatmeal with chia sees, hemp hearts, raisins, brown sugar Coffee Lunch (400 cal): Large quinoa salad with edamame beans, a bunch of other veggies…

My calorie goal is quite low (1300), so I definitely need to eat back some of my exercise calories or I'll be way too tired/cranky. That said, I always underestimate (if I run for 45 min, I'll only log 30 min), and if I'm not hungry, I won't force myself to eat back all the calories. It's been working well so far. If what…

I'm so sorry, OP. That sounds like a very difficult situation. Don't be too hard on yourself for not logging perfectly. Just do the best you can and give yourself the space to work through your emotions. Perhaps exercise can help take your mind off things for a few hours a week? Sending lots of hugs.

If all you care about is the number on the scale, then CICO (calories in, calories out) is all that matters. If you care about being healthy overall, then choosing good foods to fit into your calorie goals will matter. (ie. you need a certain amount of proteins, fats, iron, calcium etc for your body to function properly)…

Another Canadian here! And nope, I hate running in the heat. I'll do it if I'm forced to, but I hate it. I think my favourite conditions are 10 or 15C, low humidity, light winds, and overcast sky (but no precip). Happy running, everyone! :)

Yes, a beginner can do this workout. I started with 3 lb weights, and worked myself up to 5 lbs. I don't do the 30DS every day. If you're a beginner, you'll be pretty sore the next day. I run 3x per week, and do the DVD 3x per week (with one rest day), and that's a good balance for me.

I have my calories set to 1300 because I hate seeing the red numbers at the end of the day if I go slightly over. It's totally mental, but it makes a big difference for me!

"Net Calories" = Calories Eaten - Calories Burned With Exercise "Calories" = Calories Eaten So, for you, you ate on average 1716 calories per day. But your net calories were 1095 per day. That means you burned an average of 621 calories per day through exercise. (1716-1095=621) The easiest way to know if this is accurate…

If you're eating a healthy varied diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, then chances are, you don't need a multivitamin unless directed to by a doctor. Many multivitamins contain a much higher dosage than necessary, and sometimes this can actually cause adverse health effects (or, no effect at all other than lightening…

I'm not getting married until next year, but I'm trying to lose weight so I can go dress shopping with my mom this summer! Any of you, feel free to add me. :)

I don't like sweet drinks, so if I get a "fancy" coffee, it's usually just a small cappuccino which comes in at 90 calories. But like queenliz mentioned above, you can get sugar-free syrup if you want something flavoured. http://www.starbucks.com/menu/catalog/nutrition?drink=all#view_control=nutrition
